Local LACAC committees are.
invited to Stratford conference
The City,of Stratford Local Architectural
Conservation Advisory Committee
(LACAC) is hosting .a Regional Conference
on Saturday, Oct. 4 for LACACs from
Southwestern Ontario.
The location of the conference is the Strat-
ford Public Library Auditorium and runs
from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. This conference
will provide an opportunity for LACACs to
discuss matters of mutual concern and in-
terest and is also open to the public.
The morning session will be used to ex-
plore the City of Stratford's architectural
style and the afternoon will be taken up with
a panel discussion and nitaactinn nprind.
Panel members are Doug Lambie, acting
Chairman, Stratford LACAC, Lorne Eedy,
Chairman, St. Marys LACAC, Norm Har-
rison, Senior Planner, City of Guelph and
Secretary, Guelph LACAC, Art Gorman,
Chairman, Township of Woolich LACAC and
Carolynn Riedstra, Past Chairman and Cur-
rent Vic.e,chairman, Stratford LACAC.
It is hoped that this regional conference
will bring together LACACs from other
areas to discuss matters relating to the con-
servation of Ontario's architectural styles.

Culberts have reunion
Elmer and Edna Culbert were at the home
of Pete and Gloria Neufeld in Lucknow on
August 23 when the relatives of the late Effie
and Andrew Culbert met for their annual
family reunion.
Relatives were present from Lucknow,
Amberley, Kincardine, Seaforth, Sarnia and
St. Catharines, Ontario.
A number also came from the United
States, from Plymouth, Southfield,
Westland and Redfern Township in
Michigan.
An enjoyable afternoon was had by all, en-
ding with a smorgasbord supper.
On Saturday, September 6, Elmer and Ed-
na Culbert were in Sarnia, where they at-
tended the wedding of Elmer's great-
nephew.
The family of Dorothy Finlayson were
home recently to wish their brother, sister-
in-law and nieces, Ian, Christina and Elissa
of London, a farewell before they returned
to Calgary, Alberta. Ian has once again got

The family of William and Shirley Irvin of
Ashfield Township, Shelley, Lindsay and
Karen spent Sunday with their grand-
parents while their parents were away. -
On Sunday, September 14, Rev. and Mrs.
Nuggent, Helen MacLennan and Charles
and Mayme Wilkins went to Crieff Hills near
Guelph which is the Presbyterian Church
Retreat for an open house and a corn roast.
On Thursday evening September 18
Dorothy Finlayson entertained the ladies of
the WMS of the Ashfield Presbyterian
Church.

fond by Pat O'Neill
Margaurite O'Connor of Pickering
visited last week with the Dalton families
and many of her friends of the area.
Pat O'Neill found a balloon on his lawn
and it was stamped Chicago, Illinois.
The community wishes Robert Simpson
a 'speedyrecovery as he is a patient in
Wingham Hospital.
Kevin Cook and his friend Bill Elliott
have gone fishing for a few days.
Father Ralph O'Laughlin of Houston,
Texas has been visiting with his sister Ber-
nadine Kinney.
The community would like to welcome
Peter and Louise Martin and family to the
area as they have bought the Clare Smith
house and have moved from Glammis.
John S. Dalton celebrated his eighth bir-
thday on September 10. Little friends that
attended were Doug Barger, Ed Courtney
and Glenn Ferguson.

Holmesville .. Sunday morning, worship
service was held in Holmesville United
Church, with Rev. James Bechtel of-
ficiating. The children went to their classes
following a story from Rev. Bechtel.
Twenty-five enterprising seniors met in
the community centre in HHlmesville on
September 18. Murdock Morrison was in
charge of the meeting.
Gordon Lobb spoke to the seniors on the
farm show and left two tapes.
Helen and John Linsday showed their
slides of their trip to England, Scotland and
Ireland. The anniversary cake and ice
cream was served for lunch and a social
time was had.
Congratulations to Heather Harris who
received The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies
Auxilary to Branch 140 Clinton Bursary for
her continuing education to Fanshawe
College.
