Stewardship Ashfield farmr, Fred
is theme at
Arthur Circle Vass 'lia dies at age 83
Ann Coulter opened the Arthur Circle
meeting Sept. l5 with two lovely solos,
"Amazing Grace" and "Memories", ac-
companied by Betty Coulter.
The theme was Stewardship and Madeline
Ritchie's group was in charge. Bobby Mof-
fat read from Matthew 25.14-30. Norene
ttobinson gave a reading on the parable
"talents" and a hymn "Softly now the Light
of Day" was sung, accompanied by Betty
Coulter.
The group was reminded that the Glad
Tidings Subscriptions are now due.
Betty Helesic introduced the guest
speaker Jean Murchison who was a member
of the Arthur Circle before she and her fami-
ly moved to Mississauga, and now have
returned.
She spoke about one of her trips which she
gathered Indian Artifacts and had a display
of Indian Crafts. She showed many pictures
of art by several well known people" Doug
Story, Daphne Arthur Skillings and Jackson
Verdi.
Ruth Skeoch thanked her.
The next meeting will be Oct. 20 and Joyce
Garrick's group will conduct the Thank
offering.

90th birthday

A Snider family dinner washeld on Satur-
day, Sept. 20 at the home of Katherine
(daughter) of Wes Nivins, RR 3 Auburn.
Family members in attendance were Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Snider of Goderich, Nan
(daughter), and Des Whately, of Ottawa,
Brian and Lynn Scully, Paris, Christopher
and Heather Whately, Hamilton, Jan
Whately, Toronto, Vicki Rossnagel, of
Bramalea, Debbie Whately, of Ottawa and
five great grandchildren.
Unable to attend were Linda and Bill
Hyde, Comox, B.C., (children Tiffany and
Joey), Art Rossnagel of Bramalea, and Lyle
Whately, of Jasper Alberta.

Knox W.M.S. met in the church parlour
for the first meeting of the fall session, with
the President, Mrs. Robert McAllister in

FREDERICK SILVIO VASSELLA
Frederick Silvio Vassella of R. 3,
Goderich died at Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital on September 18, 1986 at
the age of 83.
A farmer in Ashfield Township, he was a
member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church, Kingsbridge.
Born in Chester, England on November
5, 1902, he was a son of the late Edward
Patricio Vassella and Maria Tosio of
Poschavio, Switzerland,
He married Leona Taillon, who
predeceased him.
He is survived by six daughters,
Maureen and Delmar Maize of Unionville;
Yvonne and Jim Sinnett, Betty Lou and
Mike Dalton, Eileen and Danny Wilson and
Linda and Art Bowler, all of Kingsbridge
and Dianne and Paul Wisser of Willowdale
and one son, Carl and Joan Vassella, of
Chatsworth.
A sister, Rosie Baker of England, 24
grandchildren and one great grandson also
survive.
i ie was predeceased by one sister and
two brothers.
The funeral mass was conducted at St.
Joseph's Roman Catholic Church,
Kingsbridge on September 22, 1986 at 10:30
a.m. by Father E.J. Dentinger.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill
Johnston, John MacKay, Jack Drennan,
Larry Maclntyre, Stu MacLennan and Er-
nie Gibson.
Pallbearers were Edmond Sinnett, Tom
Sinnett, Fred Durnin, Mike Durnin, Dan
Wilson and Jim Maize.
Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery,
Kingsbridge.
SARAH ALBERTA "BIRDIE" WHITELY
Sarah Alberta `Birdie" Whitely died at
Alexandra Marine and General Hospital
on September 15, 1986 at the age of 96. She
was a member .of North Street United
Church.
Born in Dungannon on July 12, 1890, she
was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward
Durnin and Barbara Dreaney.
She married Charles Andrew Whitely
who predeceased her.
She is survived by daughters, Helen and
Jean, both of Toronto and two sons, Benson
and his Wife, Dorothy of Goderich
Township and Graham and his wife,
Eleanor of Colborne Township.
Seven grandchildren, Carol, Heather,
Sharon, Lisa, Jennifer, Brian and Bill sur-
vive as well as two great grandchildren,
Andrew and Nicholas.
She was predeceased by two sons, Bert
and Ross and four sisters and three
brothers.
The funeral was held from the Mc-
Callum and Palla Funeral Home in
Goderich on September 18,.1986 at 2 p.m.,

Street United Church, Goderich.
Pallbearers were Brian Whitely, Bill
Whitely, • Ron Young, Chester Sturdy,
Bruce Holmes and Eugene Bender.

ARNOLD FULLER
Arnold Fuller of Goderich died at Alex-
andra Marine and General Hospital on
September 16, 1986, at the age of 65.
A retired employee with Windsor Salt
Warehouse, he was a member of Victoria
Street United Church, Goderich.
Born in Goderich on April 9, 1921, he was
a son of the late Reginald Maitland Fuller
and Annie Irene Wilson.
He married Mildred Ann Bleyswyck who
survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two
daughters, Sandra Fitzgerald of
Teeswater and Janet Fuller of Blyth, two
sons, Brian of Goderich and Gary at home,
two grandchildren and two step -
grandchildren. .
Two sisters, Betty Merrall of North Bay
and Bernice Fuller of Hamilton also
survive.
The funeral was held from the Mc-
Callum and Palle Funeral - Home in
Goderich on Friday, September 19, 1986
conducted by Rev. John D. M. Wood of Vic-
toria Street United Church.
Pallbearers were, son, Brian Fuller,
Larry Wilson, Ken Wilson, Charlie Griese,
Peter Grover, Ken McMillan and Doug
Fuller.
Burial in Maitland Cemetery.
RUBY FOWLER
Ruby Fowler died at the Bluewater Rest
Home in Zurich on September 17, 1986 at
the age of 91.
Born in Morden, Manitoba on August 5,
1895, she was a daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Ball of Dungannon.
She is survived by her husband, Charles
Fowler and a son, Tom and Ilene Fowler of
Parkhill. Two sisters, Elsie Lewis of
Roland, Manitoba and Nellie Anderson of
Winnipeg, Manitoba and two grand-
children, Darrell and Karen Fowler also
survive.
She was predeceased by two brothers,
Gordon and Glen Ball.
The funeral service was conducted at the
McCallum and Palle Funeral Home in
Goderich on September 19; 1986 at 1:30
p.m. by Rev. Robert Roberts of Dungan-
non United Church.
Pallbearers were Gordon Fowler, Jack
Alton, Irvine Eedy, Bill Caesar, Jack
Caesar and Doug Young.
Burial in Dungannon Cemetery.
SADIE HEATH •••• -
Sadie Heath died in Goderich on Satur-
day, September 20, 1986, in her 89th year.
Sadie was born on a farm near Bond
Head on August 18,1898, one - of six children
in the family of the late George Mapes and
Elizabeth Ruston.
She married Charles W. Heath who died
in 1957. She lived in London and Rexdale
for many years before moving to Godericih
in 1979.
Sadie was dearly loved by her large
family and leaves daughters, Betty and
her husband, Stan Bodaly R.R. 2,
Goderich; Margaret Ellis, Ottawa and Vi-
vienne and her husband Harold Breedon,
R.R. 3, Walkerton; grandchildren, Gail
(Bodaly) and John Swainson; Susan
(Bodaly) and David Little; Donna (Boda-
ly) and Randy Tell; Anne (Bodaly) and
Rory Baker; Karen, Mary Lou and
Richard Ellis and great grandchildren.
Simon $wainson; Tracey, James and Jer-
rett Little; Jeffrey, Corinne and Steven
Tell; Tara, Matthew and Katie Baker;
Molly and Anna Sweet and one sister,
Hazel Patterson, Orangeville.
Burial in Woodland Cemetery, London.
