Stuart also reported on the types of supplies required by two local businesses and one area oration. It is indicated, said Start, that more local businesses need to be canvassed to see if their .supply requirements are of suf- ficient quantity that existing local opera- tions can consider adding lines or a new business may be able to develop in the community as a result. Niilo Saari, officer with the Department of Regional and Industrial Expansion (DRIE), Trade and Business Development Branch provided additional information about opportunities available through his department in relation to future industrial promotion efforts. These include helping initial contact with DRIE officers in canes such as Detroit and Chicago, promotional with industrial leads, offering p opportunities such as the Cleveland Trade Fair and the October Export '86 program aimed at developing export business and the chance to put Goderich promotional literature in DRIE offices and at promo- tional shows. Saari stressed a good profile outlining all data that a company needs in order to help make a decision about possibly locating in a community is most important.An industrial promotion p subcom- mitteelan was formed with Mayor Eileen Palmer, Councillor John Stringer, Bob Chapman; administrator Larry McCabe and tourism and industrial promoter Stuart as members. It will therefore be necessary for the town and the airport to present further evidence to the Consolidated Hearings Board at hear- ings scheduled for October 7 in Clinton. It is the position of the town and the air- port that the proposed corridor from the Bruce Nuclear Power Development through Huron County to London poses a serious safety threat to pilots attempting to land at the airport on an app the east.
