arts for children "en francais"
The French Enrichment Committee of
Canadian Parents for French -Huron is
pleased to present its first annual series of
the performing arts for children "en
francais."
Theatre Pour Vous, will bring French
language and culture alive in three exciting
and entertaining programs, performed by
professional artists. With an emphasis on
music, dance and theatrical clowning, this
year's series is universal in appeal. It can be
enjoyed by children with a wide range of
ages and French language competence.
The performances wiI1 be held in the in-
timate surroundings of Goderich's Livery
Theatre. It should be noted that at the re-
quest of the performers, the audience must
be kept to a moderate size.
Tickets will therefore be limited in
number and available on a first come basis
— don't be disappointed by waiting. Fancily
Series tickets are $34. (Max. four people)
and Individual Series tickets are $9.95.
Funding assistance was provided by. the
Touring Arts Fund of the Ontario Arts Coun-'
cil, which makes this series possible.
Francois La Liberte will perform on
Saturday Nov. 15 at 2 pm. Folklorist, singer,
stepdancer, fiddler, player of spoons, Fran-
cois brings his audience alive with toe -
tapping, hand clapping, French Canadian
'joie de vivre'.
Eduard et Micha will perform on Satur-
day Feb. 7 at 2 pm. This engaging Toronto
duo present a lively variety of topical songs
with instrumental accompaniment. Ap-
propriate for the time of year, they are
preparing a special Mardi Gras theme for
their performance.
L'Aubergine De La Macedoine will per-
form on Saturday, Apr. 25 at 2 pm. The
series will end with an explosion of fun,
laughter and unusual talent! L'Aubergirle
de la Macedoine from Quebec will present
Duo et Debats, a fascinating blend of
theatrical clowning, juggling, music, mime
and humour.
Taking children's theatre beyond conven-
tional limits with its innovative and
humourous approach, this show will delight
you whether you're 4 or 40, whether you
understand French or not.

Second annual Mayor's Blooming
Contest awards night this Saturday
The Goderich Garden Club and Goderich
Parks Department are sponsoring the se-
cond annual Mayor's Blooming Contest. The
public is welcome to attend the awards night
presentation this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at
The Livery.
Refreshments will be provided,
photographs of the contest entries will be on
display and the local musical group Jazzvox
will entertain.
Mayor Eileen Palmer will make the
awards presentations and all of the par-
ticipants will be congratulated for their con-
tribution towards civic pride.
This year's entrants include Jean Adams,
Betty Allan, Century 21 - All Points Realty,
Mrs. C. Dakin, Goderich Lamp and Fan
Centre, Mr. and Mrs. William Gower, Mr.
and Mrs. Allister Green, Jim Hayter Chev

"We want to also continue the Mayor's
Blooming Contest and would like to have
more entries next year." she adds.
The three categories this year were
residential, commercial and balcony - win-
dow box. There are no entries in the third
category this year, says Heather and there
are no entries from children which the club
tried to encourage. The criteria for judging
was plant selection, maintenance and
design. The judge is Ed Martin from the
Parks and Recreation Department, City of
Stratford.
Prizes will include two $25 gift certificates
from Art's Landscaping Nursery and
Garden Centre; two matted photographs
from Bluewater Photography; a $15 gift, cer-
tificate from Dixie's Flowers and Gifts and
a crystal vase from Denomme Flower Shop.
