The members of First Baptist Church, on
Moptreal Street ( opposite the library) are
pleasednto announce that they will be com-
mencing weekly Pioneer Clubs on Sept. 23
from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Pioneer Clubs is a United States and
Canada wide ministry to children and young
people from Kindergarten to Senior High

Goderich Township Womens' Institute
held their September meeting in the Com-
munity Centre. Conveners of Citizenship
and World Affairs, Grace Walter and Letitia
Riddell had Ethel Yeo show beautiful and in-
teresting slides of her trip to New Zealand
and Australia.
Roll call was 'A troubled spot in the world
and how it concerns us'. It seems world
troubles come from individual attitude to
other individuals, whether in home territory
or abroad. Who has the answers?
A donation was given to Lady -Diana
Nursery. An invitation to attend Tiger
Dunlop W.I. afternoon meeting Sept. 25 was
received and accepted.'
Members and guests enjoyed `Carousel'
at Country Playhouse in July and 'Annie' in
August.
Saltford woodworker dies at 58
GERRIT HELMUS SCHOEMAKER
Gerrit Helmus Schoemaker of Saltford,
died at home on September 12, 1986 at the
age of 58.
A woodworker with Sanger Wood Pro-
ducts for 34 years, he was a member of
Trinity Christian Reformed Church where
he served as an elder. He was active in the
Back to God Hour radio broadcast of the
Christian Reformed Church, secretary of
the church burial fund and a member of the
Goderich Laketown Band for 10 years.
Born in Vroomshoop, The Netherlands on
January 10, 1928, he was a son of the late
Frederick Herman and Aaltje Dam.
He is survived by his wife, Helena
deRuyter, and children, Fred and Lynn of
Jennison, Michigan; Richard at home; Mar-
jorie of Goderich; Kathleen and Jeff
Bruinsma of London and Alex at home.
He is also survived by three sisters,
Johanna, Mrs. Jan Gerritts of Brampton,
Willy and Cor Guther of Hamilton, Vroukje
and Geert Guther of Hamilton and two
brothers, Wicher and Joan Schoemaker of
Goderich and Herman and Steintje
Schoemaker of R. 4, Goderich. His mother-
in-law, Maarije (Leyen) deRuyter in The
Netherlands also survives.
The funeral service was conducted from
Trinity Christian Reformed Church,
Goderich on September'l5, 1986 at 2 p.m. by
Rev. Harry Vriend. ..
Soloist was. John De Jager and
flower -bearer was Herman Schoemaker.
Pallbearers were Alex Schoemaker,
Harry Worsell, Wally Milley, Glen Dodkin,
John Dragstra and Ken Dunn.

Jehovah's
Witnesses attend
two day seminar
Approximately 1900 Jehovah's Witnesses
from 16 different congregations attended a
two-day seminar on Saturday and Sunday,
September 6 and 7 at the Assembly Hall, in
Norval, Ontario.
Seven of these congregations came from
the Kitchener -Waterloo area. The rest came
from Elmira, Listowel, Woodstock and
other towns west to Goderich:
The program provided spiritual guidance
and direction on how to live their lives to
meet God's approval. The program was
made up of talks and demonstrations. A
baptism was held on Saturday.
The main feature of the seminar was the
public talk on Sunday by the district super-
visor for Jehovah's Witnesses, D. Held. The
theme of the talk was Acts of God, What are
they.
Jehovah's Witnesses carried on their
ministry in over 205 lands during 1985. An
average of 520 each day were baptized.

PETER BILSTRA
Peter Bilstra of Brampton, formerly of
Goderich died at Peel. Memorial Hospital in
Brampton on September 7, 1986 at the age of
74.
A retired laborer, he was a member of the
Christian Reformed Church.
Born in Holland on September 11, 1911, he
was the son of the late Aldert Bilstra and
Nellie Deleguw of Holland.
On July 16, 1936, he married Anne (Aafke)
Bloem in Friesland, Holland, who
predeceased him.
He is survived by his sdn, Albert and Mary
Bilstra of Thorndale and a daughter, Nellie,
Mrs. Larry. Pentland, of Dungannon. Two
sisters, Gertrude Cuperus and Ieskae Surviving are two daughters June, Mrs.

Eileen Victoria Carey died at her
residence in Goderich on September 9, 1986
in her 85th year.
A member of St. George's Anglican
Church, she was born in Goderich on April
18, 1902, a daughter of the late Benjamin
Clements Munnings and Jane Burrows.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ma-
jor Philip F. Carey.

Walker and their family, Gary, Michelle,
David and John, all of Toronto. She is also
survived by a brother-in-law, Roland
Walker of Goderich.
She was predeceased by two sisters,
Theresa, Mrs. Roland Walker and Gertrude
