First round of Ladies'
Slow -Pitch over, six
teams left to vie for title
The first round of playoffs for the
Goderich Ladies Slowpitch League. has
been completed.
The league was divided into two divi-
sions, 'A' and `B', with the seventh team,
Nile, receiving a bye for the first round.
This series was the best 2 out of 3.
In the A Division, Go-4-Ettes defeated
Bruno's in two straight games by scores of
19-7 and 6-4 respectively. The second game
went into extra innings.
The Oldtimers eliminated Samuelson's
by defeating them 8-2 and _ 15-1. Sifto Salt
also, advanced to the second round, out-
scoring Hot Shots 11-3 last Monday and 12-1
on Sunday afternoon.
In the B Division, Night Owls and Not
Much met in the first round with Night
Owls advancing as they overwhelmed Not
Much 24-2 and 20-4.
Double Blue and Meneset were the only
teams in the first round to play 3 games.
Double Blue won the first game 13-9.
However, Meneset came back to win the
next two games 12-9 and 17-8.
The three teams remaining in each divi-
sion will now begin a round-robin, where
they will play each other twice, with the 2
top teams in each division advancing to the
final round for the league championship.

Duplicate Bridge Club plays seven table game
There was a seven table Mitchell game
played at the Goderich Duplicate Bridge
Club on Tuesday, Sept. 2nd. Average was
70 points.
NS, first and first overall, A.
Weerasooriya and P.K. Venkiteswaran 85
points; second, Eleanor Erskine and Mary
Donnelly 83 points;. third, Dawna Sproule
and Evelyn Galbraith 70.5 points; fourth,
Bill Cochrance and Joe Martin 68.5.
EW, first, Theresa Donatis and Arlene
Gibbons 81 points; second, Evy McDonagh
and Frank Donnelly 75.5 points; third.
Ralph Kingswell and Bill Duncan 74
points; fourth, Barb Howe and Peg Miller
70.5 points.
Fun Cup '86 goes this weekend
Goderich Windsurfing with the
Bluewater Boardsailing Club will host the
third annual Goderich Fun Cup this Satur-
day and Sunday September 13 and 14.
The races will be held in the Point
Farms Provincial Park, Goderich.
Professional and amateur boardsailers
from all over Ontario will be competing at

Colborne wins
The Colborne Squirt Girls team won the
Consolation B Trophy at their tournament in
Goderich on Sept. 6th.
They lost the first game to the Goderich
No. 2 team. From then on, they defeated
Vanastra 11-10 and Clinton 22-1.
The play off game between Blyth and Col-
borne was exciting with strong pitching by
Amy Olson. Terrific team effort and team
spirit resulted in a 8-6 victory.
The trophy was presented to team
members Jodi Webster, Jodie Riley, Amy
Olson, Susan Clark, Andrea Imanse, Lisa
Sillib, Janice Webster, Andrea Fisher, Kim
Dungale, Sally Mabon and Julie Stothers.
