Buchanan introduced the guest speaker, Lois Elliott, who brought greetings and gave details of the executive meeting in Londesboro and informed the members of the district annual to be held May 26. She also spoke on the workshop held in Londesboro with the "Water Situation" the main topic. SOCIAL NEWS Capt. R. Wilson and Mrs. Wilson have, - returned to their home in Colborne after la winter in Florida. Mr. & Mrs. Wilmer Hardy, formerly of Colborne, returned from a couple weeks in Florida. Some of the readers of Signal Star may remember Gladys Grindrod, formerly of Goderieh and now living in London. Sorry to report her husband, Cecil Garley passed away earlier this month. We are glad to report George McBride has returned home and is convalescing favourably from a knee' replacement operation. Cora Sherwood visited her daughter and family at Corunna last week. Rev. Earl Reaburn of Quebec, while in Toronto on business, was able to spend a short visit with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Eric Reaburn. George Robertson and his committee of John Feagan, Ron Baer, Eric Moore, Vanda McNeil, Gerald Dustow and Ralph Starkey have a "Dorn Memory Lane Display" plan- ned. They wish to recreate an old school room and an early kitchen. The committee i looking for an old double desk that Was once found in the single room scfiool'house. They also need a set of dishes for the kitchen table. If you have any ar- tifacts that you feel would complement these rooms please phone the committee members. The committee also plans to have a room of Colborne Township Memorabilia. They are making glass show cases for small and precious articles. Larger items will be displayed as the committee sees fit. It is more interesting if you can prepare a short history. of each article before giving them to George and his committee. Security is planned. for the protection of the artifacts. Not only will committee members be vigilant throughout the day, but security guards have been hired to patrol the grounds at night. Bob Brindley is in charge of an outdoor display of early farm machinery and tools. This shoult prove very interesting. Young and old alike are finding that it is fun to work together. It is a great feeling to know that we aren't just remembering "the good old days" but that during 1986 we are also creating thein. • '"Tiger Country for Kids" colouring books are now ready. The Gr lde six children of Colborne Central are selling them. Contact the school if you wish to purchase one for your grandchild or another friend. They are a unique souvenir of Colborne Township's Sesquicentennial. TIGER DUNLOP W.I. Tiger Dunlop Women's Institute annual meeting was held in Colborne Township Hall, April 24 commencing with a pot luck luncheon. Sixteen members and two visitors attended with district president, Lois Elliot as guest. ' • Acting president, Helen Stoll, opened the meeting and secretary -treasurer Gertrude Kaitting read the minutes of last meeting. Correspondence was given special attention as it included an invitation to Belgrave In- stitute's 75th birthday celebration.
