It was obvious from the business meeting that 1985 was another successful year for the jail, Total attendance for 1985 was 18,066 which included 46 bus tours. The guest speaker for the evening was Susan Burke frbm Joseph Schneider Haus in Kitchener. She is a well-known expert in the field of pioneer textiles, clothing, folk art, furnishings and the restoration of pioneer dwellings. Miss Burke gave an il- lustrated presentation on "Folk Expres- sions of Waterloo County." Huron Historic Gaol's Executive for 1986 consists of Past Chairman, Joan Van Den Broeck; Chairman, John Seaman; Vice Chairman, Jim Hunter; Secretary, Dorothy Crocker and James Eric Kirk as Treasurer. Once again the Jail is open for Public viewing and will continue with the opera- tion of the Flea Market beginning May 18th. Executive Secretary, Ileen Kaake, who is in charge of registrations, Assistant secretary Marg Kelly, .and Recording Secretary Pat O'Rourke have ,capably handled all secretarial duties and are now assembling the adjudicator kits for each session in the following halls: Walkerton District Secondary School, . Walkerton Town Hall, Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Paul's United Church and Knox Presbyterian Church. President Jean Allison from Hanover, whose duties are many and varied, is also the Chairman of the Syllabus and Music .Committee. She said, "We hope the public will take advantage of attending many ex- cellent performances of choirs, bands, ensembles, and dance as well as soloists of vocal, strings, wind . and keyboard in- strurhents. These performers have spent months in preparation and a good au- dience will be greatly appreciated." Vice President Bev Hopwood of Durham; who organizes the Festival Highlights Concert, said, "We plan a varied programme from year to year with adjudicator selected performers con- sisting of solos and groups in all categories of instruments, voice and dance, drawn from various age groups of students and adults.
