series with
Goderich
If the Goderich Belles and Mitchell
carry on their Huron -Perth championship
final much longer, their season may rival
that of the NHL.
Thebest-of-three final series began Mon-
day, March 24 in Goderich with Goderich
winning the first game 10-8. The Belles
were in a position to wrap up the cham-
pionship onthe weekend in Mitchell _but
lost the second game 10-7.
Mitchell's victory ties the series at one
game apiece and th third and deciding
game will be played in Seaforth Thursday
evening. The winner will lay claim to the
Huron -Perth Roingette championship and
it should be the final game of the ringette
season as the Belles played their regional
finals in March. The Tweens and Junior
Belles finished off their regional tourna-
ment over the past weekend.

in ringette regional
tournament on weekend
The Regional C Ringette Tournament
was held in Seaforth and Mitchell on the
weekend °with two Goderich teams, Jr,
Belles and Tweens, participating in the
round robin affair.
Both teams, the Jr. Belles and Tweens,
lost their three round-robin games, but the
teams enjoyed successful seasons in
reaching the tournament.
Waterloo defeated Mitchell 6-4 to win the
Jr. 'Belle divisions, London edged Kit-
chener 7-6 in overtime to win the Tween
category and a London team defeated Dor-
chester 12-7 to win the Petite division.
Goderich played better in its final game
and lost 7-6 to Seaforth despite playing at 7
a.m. in Mitchell Sunday. Julie Campbell
led Goderich with two goals while Laurie
Dawson, Vanderburgh, Armstrong and
Jones added one goal apiece.
The Goderich Tweens, which won the
Huron -Perth championship without losing
a game, lost its three games in the
tournament.
In the first game, Chatham built up a 3-1
lead after one period and went on to defeat
Goderich 7-2. Angie Harrison and Jennifer
Hamilton score the Tweens' goals.

The Goderich Belles and Mitchell are locked into an exciting series that will eventually
decide the winners of the Huron -Perth Ringette championship. Goderich won the first game
of the best -of -three series 10-8 but Mitchell evened the count with a 10-7 win at home on the
weekend. The series' deciding game will be played Thursday in Seaforth. In the top photo, a

Basketball tournaments were played at
three area schools on Friday with the
county champions in the separate 'school
league ,being decided at St, Mary's
.Separate School. Four girls and four boys
teams played competedat the mixed tour-
nament representing schools from
Kingsbridge, Clinton, Wingham and
Goderich.
Goderich won the boys chmapionship
while Clinton won the girls title and bah
teams will compete in the Huron - Perth
Separate School league championship in
Stratford on April 15.

team has found a home. •
The new team has been accepted to 04

playoffs in August. Since there is no active
junior league in the immediate area; it was
impreative for the new team to find a cont.:

Organizer Doug Cruickshank said he
was pleased the league accepted the junior
team adding "the competition is good
here."
The team will continue its indoor prac-
tice sessions at Victoria Public School this
Tuesday at 8 p.m. On April 22 and 29, the
practice sessions move to Agriculture
Park at 7 p.m.
Anyone 21 years of age and younger in-
terested in playing competitive fastball is
asked to show up at the Tuesday practice
at Victoria School.

out for the Goderich Squirt Boys WOAA
fastball team are asked to contact John

Hayter at 4-6805.
To be eligible for the squirt boys team,
players must be under 12 years of age.
Anyone having a 12th birthday before Jan.
1 is ineligible.
The team will begin ' practice sessions
next Tuesday, April 15 at 6 p.m. at
Agriculture Park. Any interested players
are asked to attend the practice.

complete
tournament
On Sunday Apr. 6 100 Y.B.C. bowlers
with a parent bowled four games together,
alternating frames to complete their bowl-
ing season and declare a winner in their
own division. •
In the PeeVVee Division, Kim Brownlee
and dad Ken were first followed closely by
Kathy Rivett and her dad Jerry.
Rick Desjardins and,dad Bob won for the
Bantam with Jeff Rumig and dad Kevin 11
pins behind.
The Junior Division winners were Terri -
Lynn Schmidt and dad Dennis with David
Gilders and dad Doug a close second.
Cathy Miller and dad John won for the
Seniors and Bev Harrison and dad Jim
placed second. All the first place winners
will advance to bowl in the District Finals
at a later date.
