On Wednesday Mar. 26 the Brookside boys
and girls Basketball teams played a basket-
ball game against Colborne. 411 had fun!
Both Gr. 2 classes went to London to the
Children's Museum on Wednesday, March
26;:.Miss Jewitt's and Mrs. Clarke's classes
enjoyed the day very much. They saw
Halley's Comet and Inuit Games.
Gr. 1 room 5 and Kindergarten I went to
the sugar bush on Tuesday, March 25. They
enjoyed tasting maple syrup, maple sugar,
maple taffy and maple butter.
Kindergarten 2 has started practicing for
the Spring concert this past week.
.- un Fair is being organized by Room 8 for
Thursday, April 10. Each class will be
visiting this for a half hour between 1:00 and
.3;10 .and any donations of old comic books
and toys are appreciated.
The room 4 Alphabet is becoming the
Animal Kingdom this month. They are busy
classifying animals in different ways,
writing about.onimals; arid creating strange
and amazing new animals. Have you ever
seen a "perhurtle"? ! They also had an in-
teresting visit from Dr. Alma Armstrong, a
veterinarian. Stuart Rintoul is our special

The students in grades 2-6 are preparing
for thevisit , from Dr. Zed to Brookside
School on April 17.
Brookside Science Fair was held on
'Thursday, Mar. 27 in the gym. Displays
were put up and judged on Wednesday after-
noon by various teachers. Winners were as
follows: Grade 1 Room 1: first, Scott
Richardson, model castle; and Joey
Culbert, space project; second, Caley
Moore, stamp collection; and third, Tommy
Brindley, Coin Collection.

Congratulations, to all who participated,in
the Science Fair. There was a marvellous
display attended by many interested
parents.
On Friday, Grade 1, Room 1 and
Kindergarten 2 went to Robinson's Sugar
Bush. The children ate now making booklets
about their enjoyable field trip.
Grade 1, Room 1 have just finished a unit
on 3-D shapes. They liked the pyramids and
prisms best.
Grades 3 and 4 in Room 7 have combined
the blending of primary colours with mak-
ing printed patterns for butterflies. They
also have some wonderfully creative -
looking "blobs" in the room.
Mrs. Blake has some "Budding Authors"
groups going including some pupils from
grades 3-7. These students are writing
stories which will eventually be made into
books which will be included in Brookside
library collection. Some students will be
taking part in the "Author's Day Workshop"
which will be held iri Clinton in May. • .

Congratulations to the Port Albert Pirates
for their performance in the playoffs that
took place in Lucknow recently.
The 8th Port Albert Lottery draw was held
on schedule. The tickets were drawn by
Debbie Draper and Linda Hayden and the
