Wedding showers are given for all
brides these days, whether they're get-
ting married for the first, second or even
third time. Gone are the days when a
remarriage was kept very simple and
hush-hush. Now it's considered a joyful
new beginning.
If you've been invited to a "second
time" shower, you may be wondering if
-there isn't some difference. The original
purpose of a shower was to outfit a bride
with everything she'd need to set up a
new household. But what do you give a
woman who is older and who probably
has all the essei tials?
A former marriage doesn't guarantee
that a bride will have everything she
needs to furnish a home now.
Styles change and the bride's lifestyle
probably has changed. Years ago she
may have hoped for beer mugs to pass
around with pizza; now she might want
crystal stemware for more formal enter-
taining. Her former husband might have.

sheets and glasses almost always are ap-
preciated gifts. •
If you want to give a traditional pre-
sent, it's a good idea to find out if the
bride has signed up at any wedding gift
registries. The bridal consultant there
will be able to tell you exactly what ser-
vice pieces your friend hopes to add to
her flatware or which kitchen appliances
she's lacking.
If you don't want to stick with the
classics, you should view a second -time
shower as the perfect opportunity to use
your imagination.
Think a little more frivolous and a little
more personal. Depending on the bride's
tastes and interests, consider something
like a gourmet coffeemaker that comes
with its own grinder or a professional

vacation can be. About 80 per cent of
couples honeymoon in the summer -time
and Europe is the perfect place to com-
bine culture and an intellectual honey-
moon with the sun and sand.
The currency rate is good in many
European cities and the quality of goods
is high. There are some terrific two week
tour packages to places like Greece;
Spin and Portugal. Portugal and Greece
are particularly good travel bargains.
You can easily go island hopping on three
Greek islands over the course of two
weeks.
The darling of travel agents, the all-
inclusive Caribbean couple resorts are
aiso the perfect answer for newlyweds
who've had their fill of planning and
details. The all-inclusive resorts - such as
Jamaica Jamaica; Hedonism; Jack Tar
Villages; Couples Jamaica; and Couples
St Lucia - offer one price which covers
meals, drinks and activities. It takes the
guesswork out of honeymoon planning
and allows couples the freedom to just sit
back and relax.
But in order to make your honeymoon
the perfect hiatus fromreality it was
meant to be, it's important to choose an
island in the sun that matches your in-
terests and budget.
Do you love to gamble? You'll enjoy
the Bahamas but not from December to
February. Its close proximity to Florida
makes it a prime candidate for plenty of
rain during that time. Better to follow the
sun further south, like to the -U.S. Virgin
Islands. Here, even if it rains, it's like
those light and pleasant summer showers
which don't stay long enough to ruin
anybody's fun.
The obvious factor to consider u,
honeymoon planning is expense. If you're
going to choose Bermuda, Aruba or Bar-
bados as your honeymoon destination,
then you're going to pay more than if you
go to the cheaper spots more popular
with honeymooners such as Jamaica or
Acapulco.
