GOLBORNE
GORNER
Youngsters are not being forgotten in the
planning of Colborne Township Ses-
quicentennial celebrations. A kite design
and flying competition is planned for public
school age children.
John Ross, principal of Colborne Central,
will be telling the. pupils about this event as
we get closer to kite flying weather.
The Sky Harbor Model Airplane Club will
present a flying show on the school grounds
during the July celebrations. These two
events will attract many flying buffs.
A coloring book depicting Colborne
Township history is being prepared by ar-
tists Mary Slotegraff and Rick Milburn. The
souvenir committee has planned a coloring
contest for children. These books and con-
test will be available soon.
A DJ will provide music for the younger
crowd, while mom and dad enjoy Walter
Ostenak and his band at the celebrations
this summer. Children are being encourag-
ed to decorate their bikes, pets, etc.. for the
parade. Each child will receive. a remem-
brance of Colborne Township if they appear
in the parade. -
The sports committee are arranging a
soap -box derby with age classes 12 and
under and 12 to 15 years. Don Feagan, John
Edward and Len Jenkins will be responsible
• for this event. Prizes will be awarded for
best design and fastest speed.
The sesquicentennial committee hope that
rate

the celebration this summer will be a family
affair and when Colborne Township
celebrates its Bicentennial in Year 2036
many of today's youngsters will say
"Remember 1986".

Colborne Township are selling some of their
premium hay which is being re -baled and
loaded into containers at the• farm, which
are then sealed until they reach their •
destination in England. It is an advantage to
farmers to take their hay off in top condi-
tion. Horace Crawford and Bob Brindley
