The Goderich Signal-Star, 1984-11-21, Page 16PAGE,16 —GODERICH SIGNAL -STAR, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER X1,1984 KOU MAf4 We watched'you`§'uffer, we watched you die But all we could do was lust stand' by There is never a day that passes Without a memory or a tear And wish that we could turn back time And hove you with us here We think of you in silence And often speak your name But all we have are memories And your picture in a frame You who have your mother Cherish her with care For you'll never know the heartache Until you see her empty chair. Thinking about you, your son and daughter-in- law, Love Henry and Sue. -47 CURRAN In loving memory of Jack Curran who passed away three years ago on Nov. 26, 1981. Put your arms around him Lord, Treat him with special care, Make up for all he suffered, And all that seemed unfair. Through tears we watched him suffer, We saw him fade away, Our hearts were almost broken, He fought so hard to stay. But when we saw him sleeping, So peacefully, free from pain, We could not wish him back again, To suffer so again. A thousand times we've missed him, A thousand times we've cried, If love could have saved him, He never would have died. Lovingly remembered and never forgotten by his wife, Eileen, families, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.-47nx the c , REAL G% ESTATE FOX We wish to express our sincere thanks and heartfelt appreciation to all our relatives, neighbours and friends .for their kindness and expressions of sympathy during our recent sad bereavement. C) O GK GK GK GK GK GK GK GK GK GK GK GK GK GK GK GKI Reducing deficit priority Finance Minister Michael Wilson has outlined the Progressive Conservative Government's program for ,,change and -renewal in his recent economic statement to the Canadian people. Wilson stated that the government's first priority is to reduce the deficit. Without this reduction, the deficit would rise to $38 billion and the burden of debt per Canadian, family would be $54,000 per year by 1990. To reduce the deficit, the minister an- nounced major cuts in government spending that would result in federal savings of $4.2 billion. Although the statement was one of restraint, there were some encouraging signs from the government in the areas of taxation, agriculture and job creation. Murray Cardiff, MP for Huron -Bruce, is pleased to note that the issues of Agribonds, taxation of part-time farmers and taxation of capital gains on farm lands will be refer- red to the agriculture committee. Farmers will also be eligible for a tax rebate of three cents a litre on fuel. The spouse's allowance for all widows and widowers between the ages of 60 and 65 will be extended and the government will be improving pensions for veterans. The government has also committed itself to spending $1.2 billion in creating long-term jobs in the private sector. In a symbolic gesture, the Prime Minister and his cabinet ministers have agreed to take a reduction in their salaries and have a complete review of parliamentary expenditures and the MP pension plan.
