Meeting will provide information
on French education in Ontario
The subject of French education is one of
the ,most salient issues facing students, ,
parents, educators and administrators to-
day.
'With the implementation of core French
programs and the prospect of the implemen-
tation of immersion programs, parents are
looking for, help and inforamtion to make
responsible decisions about their child's
education.
A genuine concern andk;nterest in the sub-
ject of French education has led to the for-
mation of a Huron Chapter of Canadian
Parents for French (CPF). CPF is a net-
work of parents, and associations. across
Canada devoted to promoting French as a
second language.
Organizers of the local chapter say they
will provide interested parents with access
to the latest research, information and
trends in core and immersion programs.
But more than just an information service
for parents, CPF will endeavor to arrange
activities that expand and enricheexisting
programs.

While the Huron chapter is still a fledgling
organization it has organized its first infor-
mation meeting for Monday, November 12

legiate Institute beginning at 8 p.m.
The meeting will feature three guest

was instrumental in initiating the immer-
sion program since its inception in 1970;

in Education affiliated with the Ministry of
Colleges and Universities and Carmeta Ab-
bott, the founder of a French language
school in Kitchener 'and a professor at St.
Jerome's College, University of Waterloo.

debate on French education and each guest
speaker will make a presentation before
allowing the public to offer comments and
ask questions.
The meeting is open to everyone to learn
about French education in the province of
Ontario or learn more about the local
chapter of the Canadian Parents for French.

Board and, the Huron County Board of
Education will be entertaining submissions
