Keep those summer fitness activities going all year 'round. The Fall Program '84 for swim and fitness classes starts September 24 to December 1 at Vanastra Recreation Centre (two miles south of Clinton). There are classes for people of all ages. The Red Cross Youth Water Safety classes encompass the regular colour system W om the non -swimmer yellow class to the final white level. This fall, the •RISS Lifesaving 1 wilibe incorporated in the grey level and the RLSS Lifesaving 2 will be introduced in the white level for no extra charge. F,or those who want to continue lifesaving skills and develop leadership abilities, the RLSS Bronze Medallion course is being offered Monday evenings. Adult swim classes include "Ladies Only" and "Co-ed Adult" classes. These lessons consist of aquafit; for swimmers, advanced, non -swimmer, beginner 1 and beginner 2 classes. A new program in the pre-school classes involves moms and dads learning to teach their children to swim in a structured pro- gram. These classes are called "Parent and Tot" for up to two year olds and "Guppies and Parents" for the°two-to-four years olds. Also offered is the "Kindergym" and swim for three -to -five year olds. This class is "for kids only". . Synchronized swimming is a popular pro- • gram for the person who feels comfortable in deep water and wishes to increase his Or her water skills and endurance ability. This is a good program for those people finished the colour system but not old enough to con- tinue on in leadership courses. Moms and dads bring the children and everyone can take lessons in the "Family Learn to Swim Program" on Thursday evenings at 7:45 p.m. One new program this fall is the "Swim Fit" course which includes water exercise in the shallow end of the pool. Participants do not need to know how to swim or even • have toput their heads under water. Exercise in water takes all the strain and weight off muscles and joints making it easier for people to move. For this reason, the "Arthritic Exercise Class" held on Mon- days at 2 p.m. is a good program for everyone wishing to maintain or increase their range of mobility. Another new program is the "Water Stroke Skills" where the swinuner works at whatever swim stroke he wishes to improve. This improves his or her fitness level at the same time. • Fun and Fitness! ! Change Fit -mess to Fit- ness. Join the "Fitness for Fun Classes" and experience a fun way to exercise to music. This program is instructed by -Drusilla Leitch of Seaforth who is. an experienced teacher and has trained at many workshops (FOLP Basics and Advanced etc.). Regular classes are held Monday at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., Wednesday, 1:30 and 8:30 and Thursday 7:30 p.m. Modified classes, which are slower in pace for the beginner or overweight person, are at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. All classes are an hour in length and are followed by use of the sauna and a splash in the pool. The "Back Care Program" ( Mondays at 1:30 p.m.) is a series of floor exercises and relactation techniques designed to help those who experience back problems. The pool, the sauna and the fitness room are available to the public for a daily admis- sion charge or memberships are available to those who make frequent use of the facili- ty. Recreation swims are available daily. Adult only swims are Monday to Friday 12 - 1:15 p.m. and Wednesdays 9:30 - 10:30 p.m. Open recreation swims ( for all ages) are: Monday 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 - 10 p.m., Tuesday 8:30 - 10 p.m., Wednesday 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., Thursday 8:30 - 10 p.m., Friday 6:30 - 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 3 - 4:30 p.m. A "Family Only Swim" is Sunday 2 - 3 p.m. New this fall is an "Early Bird Swim" on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:45 to 9 a.m. The fitness room and sauna are also available at this time. Persons can come in at 7:30 on these days, have a workout in the fitness room, a relaxing sauna and a refreshing plunge in the pool and be ready to begin their work day at 9 a.m. Another feature for children and adults are the private and semi -private swim lessons available for those who need a little extra attention from a qualified instructor. A regular weekly activity in the Centre's auditorium is bingo which is held every Tuesday evening. Many people will be glad to hear that the Country Singles will once again be holding dances every second week starting in Oc- tober. Anyone wishing further information, can either call 482-3544 or drop into the Vanastra Recreation Centre. IN LIGHT BATTER BLUEWATER ,HADDOCK ,FROZEN 350 g PKG 2.59 E.D.
