September 11; Wader Maine Bechtel ar-
ranged an interesting diaplay, including a
Grade 1 pupil's desk, a slate, text books and
writing books used at a country school.
14he meeting opened with the members
singing "School Days", accompanied by
Verna Lobb at the piano. This was followed
by the repeating of the Lord's Prayer and
The Pledge. The hymn, "Mothers of•Salem"
was sung and Lorene Young read the scrip-
ture.
Betty Stoner read an article, "It was a
Long Walk to School in the Winter.
"The hymn, "Saviour, Teach me Day by
Day", was sung. Roll call was answered by
each member repeating a verse of scripture
including the word "obedience".
President Isobel Harris opened the
business portion of the meeting: The
secretary read —the minutes and cor-

the committees. It was announced that An-
niversary Sunday at Holmesville United
Church vuYill be held on September 30. The
meeting closed with the singing of "The
Queen". A delicious lunch was served by
Letitia Riddell, Elaine Bechtel and Millie
Dempsey.
Seniors will meet September 20 in the Com-
munity Centre in Holmesville at 8 -p.m.
Guests for the evening will be Ross and
Mildred Merril of Bayfield, who will be

celebrate all members'' anniversaries with
cake and ice-cream. .
On Sunday morning at fiolxnesville United
Church, the Worship Service was well at-
tended. The senior choir provided,inusic for
the service.. Bill Batkin and• Kea Harris
received the offering.
Catholicism classes will be held with
Wesley Willis and Holmesville..Church com-
bined.
Several ladies from HolmesviIle United
Church attended the Thank Offering service
at Wesley Willis Clyiarch. Guest speaker was
Rev. Bob Rurnbar.
An anniversary service will be held at
Holmesville United Church on September 30
with guest speaker Rev. Bill Lewis, a friend
of Rev. J. Bechtel. Rev. Lewis has been a
missionary in Kenya, South Africa.
Port Albert 4-H Club elects executive
The first Port Albert 4-H meeting for
Fitness Fare Was held Wednesday,
September 12 at Mrs. Donna Hayden's home
at 7 p.m. The meeting opened with the 4-H
pledge.
Nominations for the executive took place
ande results are as follows: president -
Laurie Hayden; vice-president - Wendy
Westecott; secretary - Debbie Debold;
treasurer - Stephanie Duiirnin; and press
reporter - Wendy Miltenburg.
Members discussed different breakfasts
to make, excuses for not eating breakfast,
how to take their pulse, and "The Four S's" -
stamina, structure, strength and sup-
pleness.
-The leader, Mrs. Hayden, showed
members how to make bacon and egg loaf
and spanish omelet.
After all had sampled the food, the
meeting was adjourned with the 4-H motto.
The next meeting will be held on September
19 at 7 p.m., at Mrs. Donna Hayden's home.

Evening prayer was observed Sunday at •
the afternoon' service at Christ Anglican.
Church, Port Albert. The Reverend Robert
Crocker conducted the service. Next Sun-
day's service will be conducted by the
Reverend William Craven from Goderich.
The Harvest Home service will be held Sun-
day, October 7.
The Fall Deanery meeting will be held on
October 2 at St. George's Anglican Church,
Goderich.

Ralph and Avis Foster of Sheppardton
returned home recently from a two week
tour of Ireland.
Irwin Ford and Adeliane Ford of Exeter
and William Chambers of Clinton recently
visited with Bill and Marg Balkwill at their
summer cottage in Port Albert. The three
guests and Bill Balkwill all attended Exeter
Public School. mn..� Tast get-together Their last get-together took
place in 1940.
Elwin and Edna Petrie, Paul and Trish
Doherty and Harold and Isabel Adams, all
of Port Albert attended the wedding of
Barry Grasby and Linda Cozyn which took
place at St. Joseph's Church in Stratford on
Saturday.
Flying Doctor, a horse owned by Dianne
Foster of Sheppardton, took first prize in the
Parade Class at the Drayton Fall Fair on
September 8. To complete the fair season,
Flying Doctor will compete in the Brigden
Fall Fair on October 6 and the Rockton Fair.

Lodge News
Morningstar Masonic Lodge, at its
September meeting, conferred the Third
Degree ,on Bro. Clifton MacDonald. It was
also the occasion to honor V.Wor.Bro. Gor-
don Fowler who, at the annual meeting of
the Masonic Order in Toronto on July 18,
was appointed Grand Steward. He was
presented with the Regalia of his Office by
District Deputy Grand Master Gregory
Hazlitt, assisted by Rt.Wor.Bro. Allan Stoll.
V.Wor.Bro. Fowler was Master of Morn-
ingstar Lodge in 1974.
Hospital Auxiliary buys
air mattresses for patients
The regular meeting of the Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital Auxiliary was
held September 17 with 25 members and two
visitors present. The Auxiliary treasurer
and the Gift Shop treasurer each gave
•encouraging reports. Reports of the various
conveners were also received, indicating
that Auxiliary members continue to be very
active.
Five new Candy Stripers were added to
the roster during the summer, making a
total of 21 girls serving, and more are being
