Local:horses do well at Raceway
The results of the first race Thursday July
26 marked the beginning of a very suc-
cessful evening at Goderich Raceway. Local
horse Linlor Rodger, owned by Holmesville
Valley Farms, won the first race m a quick
2:04.2 It was the second win in two starts at
Goderich for the three-year-old colt. Trainer
and driver Brad Vanstone directed Unica-
Rodger
nlorRodger to a first place finish over Deep Run
Super.
Linlor Rodger's win seethed to set an ex-
ample as ether locally owned horses fared
very well on Thursday night.
Mar El .Patsy, owned by Lionel Kloss of
Goderich and driven by Bob Daer, won the
second race in 206. It was the first lifetime
win fot Mar El Patsy.
The third race was also won by a local
horse, as Ross Battin guided Square Arm to
victory. Square Arm is owned and trained
by Raymond Cook.
The next local horse to win last Thursday
evening was Gin and Wink in the fifth race.
-Gin and Wink is owned by Verdun and Lois
Vanstone of Goderich. The two-year-old filly
won its first lifetime start in 2:11.
Bye Bye Tide's win in the seventh marked
the last win by, a local horse on Thursday.
Randy McLean guided Bye Bye Tide to the
finish in 2:06.4 setting a new lifetime mark
for Campbell's mare.
The ,ninth and feature race was the
Molson's Pace. Despite the fact, that the In-
vitation . Pace went with a short field, the '
race was very competitive.
The winner of the ninth race was a sur-
prise as Country Topper edged out four
other more experienced horses, in a time of
2:04.1. Actually, for those who are regulars
at -the Raceway, Country Toppers win was
not such a.big surprise when you, note that
the four-year-old horse is owned and driven
by Fred Sadler of Parkhill. Fred is one of
Goderich Raceways leading drivers and he
always seems to finish very well wrth his
own horses.
Country Topper outpaced second place
finisher Highland Brigade as well as
answers you'll need to take good care of the
pet turtle you'll be constructing.
Monday, August 6: 1984 is the year of On-
tario's Bicentennial. In celebration of this
