This barn was built by William Stirling, perhaps one of the most colourful residents at Point Farms. This bachelor farmer lived in a 10 by 12 foot shack and did all his own canning, preserving and slaughtering. Although he was somewhat of a miser, he was popular with the local children and neighbours always looked for- ward to his excellent and bounteous meals after they helped with the harvesting. Come out to Point Farms and visit the history and antique farm machinery display at the Barn. Also pick` up a history guide of the park and take a hike through history at Point Farms. Some activities this week are as follows: Thursday July 12 - 1:30 p.m.: BOOKMOBILE from the Huron County library will be at Point Farms; 4:30 p.m.: OUTDOOR ART at the Beach Volleyball Net; and 7 p.m.: PUPPET SHOW at the barn. Friday July 13 - 8 p.m.: TWILIGHT HOUR at the Barn, an hour of entertaining films for the whole family. Saturday July 14 - 10 a.m.: BAKE SALE - Trinity Christian Reformed Church is bring- ing its best baked goods out to Point Farms. Come Early if you want some of these tasty morsels - THEY WON'T LAST LONG; 3 p.m.: KIDSTUFF - fun and games at the site of the old Point Farm Hotel; 8 p.m.: CAMPFIRE - Come to the campfire circle for a rousing round of rollicking repertoire. For an `evening of 'songs, stunts and skits, follow the winding Tortoise Trail to the campfire area. Sunday July 15 - 11:30 a.m.: CHURCH SER- VICE at the Barn. Informal dress, everyone welcome; 2 p.m.: SANDCASTLE BUILDING CONTEST - Sand and imagina- tion is all that you need to build your own ar- chitectural masterpiece. Build your CASTLES IN THE AIR at POINT FARMS. Discover the beauty of a tree If you can't see the forest for the trees, join us this weekend at the Falls Reserve Conservation Area and you'll discover the beauty of tree. On Saturday morning at 10:00 join us as we walk through the trails identifying some of the trees found along the river. At 8:45 p.m. come to the picnic shelter for an evening of films, examining the impor- tance of trees to our life style today. On Sunday morning at 11:00 children are welcome to go on a leaf hunting expedition as part of an hour of crafts. See us at the Activity Centre for more in- formation or phone 524-6429. The Falls is located four miles east -of Goderich on Huron County Road 31.
