Mr. and Mrs. Stephen
James Abbott
Stephen James Abbott, son of Mr, and Mrs.
Joe Essex, and Victoria Lyn Beattie,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beattie, all
of Goderich, were married in St. Peter's
Roman Catholic Church, Goderich by the
Reverend Father A.F. Loebach on June 2.
Maid of honor was Cathy Sudyk of London,
friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Linda
Krogan of Goderich, friend of the bride and
Judy Sinclair orPalmerston and Lori
Vanstone of Benmiller, both sisters of the
bride. Flowerglrl was Elizabeth Vanstone of
Benmiller, niece of the bride. Groomsman
was Phil Abbott of Goderich, brother of the
groom. Guests were ushered into the church
by Dave Abbott, Gary Abbott and Larry
Essex, all of Goderich and all brothers of the
groom, and Jim Beattie of Goderich,
brother of the bride. Ringbearer was Derek
Abbott of Goderich, nephew of the groom.
Following the wedding ceremony, a
reception was held at Saltford Valley Hall.
After a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, Mr.
and Mrs. Stephen Abbott took up residence
at 9 Blake Street, East in Goderich. (Photo

HARBOR REPORT

The Algosoo arrived light for salt from
Windsor on July 3 -and cleared harbor the
same day for Montreal.
The Algorail arrived light for salt from
Hamilton on July 5 and cleared harbor the
same day for Chicago. '
The Agawa Canyon arrived light for salt
from Cleveland on July 8 and cleared harbor
the next day for Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Bucholtz
Marilyn Wightman, daughter of Norman
and Florence Wightman of R.R. 2 Auburn,
and Don Bucholtz, son of Maxine Bucholtz of
Hanover were married on Saturday, May 26.
The Reverend Bonny Smith officiated at the
ceremony at Knox United Church in
Auburn. The maid of honor was Faye
Hildebrand of Scarborough. Joel and Ryan
Wightman of Kincardine were the
ringbearers. Bill Bucholtz of Hanover was
the grootnsman, and ushers were Len
Bucholtz of Toronto and Paul Speilmacher
of Hanover. A reception was held at the
Lucknow and District Community Centre.
Following a wedding trip to New York,State,
the couple took up residence at R.R. 1

Mr. and Mrs. Ian Ross
Ian Ross, son of Burns, and Ruth Ross of
Goderich, and Sheri MacLaren, daughter of
Butch , i'Donna MacLaren of Goderich,
were married in Banff on May 25. Maid of
honor was Cherry Muir of Vancouver and
groomsman was John Kloeze of Goderich.
Following ..the wedding ceremony, a
reception was held at Douglas Fir. Lodge in
Banff. Mr. and Mrs. Ian Ross took a
wedding trip to British Columbia and are
residing at 220 Cedarbrook Way, S.W.
Calgary.
Institute holds banquet
Tiger Dunlop Women's Institute members
celebrated their Sunshine Sister banquet
and meeting at the Maitland Golf and Coun-
try Club in Goderich on June 27.
After lunch, members conducted a short
meeting, first distributing the Sunshine
Sister gifts. Members then repeated the
Mary Stewart Collect and the roll call show-
ed 20 members and three visitors present.
The President, Mrs. Cora Sherwood,
thanked the committee of Mrs.. R.
Buchanan, Mrs. A. Young and Mrs. G.
.Feagan for the graduation banquet for
students of 'Colborne School and also the
members who helped with the banquet or
gave donations of food and money. At the
graduation awards night at the school, Mrs,
Eric Reaburn, on behalf of Tiger Dunlop
Women's Institute, presented the award
. which is in memory of a former active
member, Mrs. Annie Lamb, to Lisa Van Den
Broeck. This award was started in 1968.
A letter from the Gjderich District Red
Cross campaign was read and it was decid-
ed to send a donation to this cause.
Reports of the district annual held in
Dungannon were given by delegates, Mrs.
R. Buchanan, Mrs. H. Brindley and Mrs. G.
Kaitting.
It was agreed to send support to the Save
the Children Fund.
Mrs. H. Brindley reported regarding
microfilming the Tweedsmuir History Book
and this will be attended to after , the
Bicentennial celebrations. A card of thanks
was received from Mrs. Elliott.
As there will not be a meeting in July due
to the Bicentennial, the next meeting will be

'Albert held their annual family reunion and
picnic at Harbour Park, Goderich on Satur-
day; POR -1- ALBERT July 7.
There were 35' family members in atten-
dance, coming'from.Blind River, Brampton,
Toronto, and Hamilton.
Fred and Bernadette Dickson of Bramp-
ton were conveners of this year's event.
Anne and Joe Bills were chosen as con-

Cemetery Service
Blue skies and warm sunshine greeted the
large group attending the cemetery" service
on Sunday afternoon at Pert Albert
Cemetery. The Reverend R. Crocker spoke
to the audience from Romans, Chapter 8.
Following the service, all were invited to
the church where lunch was served by the
ACW. Mention was made of the absence of
Walter 1tigert at the service as he always led
the hymn singing with a small pump organ.
Rev. Crockeraed the singing with an auto
harp.
Tourney Held
Port Albert Pirates slo-pitch tournament
was held in the village .park over the
weekend, with five teams in the "A" divi-
sion and six teams in the "B" division.
Mitchell Grizzlies won the "A" division
after defeating London 10-4. Winthrop, War-
riors beat Goderich Auto 9-7 to win the "B"
Fireworks display held at Point Clark
When the Kinsmen held their annual
fireworks display on Sunday, July 1 at Point
Clark, they had a great turn out for the
event. They put-on a fine display that was
enjoyed by all.
A large number of people from this area
attended the wedding reception at the
Lucknow Community Centre on Saturday
evening, June 30 for Jack and Sharon
Wilkins.
Visiting a week ago and attending the
Wilkins -Blake wedding with Charles,
Mayme, Elizabeth and Kennie Wilkins were
Janet Wilkins and' Allen Peck of
Wallaceburg and Barbara Sheppard of
(Five Oaks) Paris, Ontario.
Congratulations to Kathryn Boyd,
daughter of Glen and Anne Boyd of Huron
Township, on being chosen Ripley Fall Fair
Queen. Runner-up was Janice Elliott.
Dorothy MacLennan had several v isitors
on the weekend. They were Finlay
MacLennan, Brenda and two .children of
Kitchener, Katie Sutherland and Margaret
(Bubbles) Heffernan of London.
Visiting for a couple of days with Rhetta
'MacLennan were her daughter, Florence
MacLennan and her friend, Marion Mock of
Kitchener.

their daughters, their husbands and their

awards ceremony held at Georgian College
in Owen Sound. Frank is a first year
business student.

Myrtle Kerr introduced the guest speaker,
1983 Dungannon Fair Queen, Lisa Brown.
She spoke of her experiences representing
Dungannon fair during the last year and the
rewards of such an experience. She is a
member of this year's Fair Queen
Committee to select a new queen in August.
Ila Crozier thanked Lisa with a gift.
Everyone then enjoyed Myrtle Kerr's
reading on hogs.
Hostesses Ila Crozier, Marian Zinn and
Alma Black served lunch.
The Dungannon Women's Institute held
their Canadian Agricultural meeting
Thursday evening, July 5 at the home of Ila
Crozier in. (Goderich. The roll call, name an
interesting farm experience, was answered
by 14 members. There were three visitors
present also.
The 'collection- of Pennies for Friendship
was taken, a penny for every chair in each.
