season is dry we have furl that our
Sheeted corn tuade much better feed,
This was bevauso it was preserved
better, the weather not damaging the
fodder as much as is usually the case,
Now, with the silo one is aide to pre-
serve rill the feeding value that is in
the crop at the time of harvesting, so
with even a light grain yield there is
still much value in the corn crop, prob-
ably more in n corn crop of light yield
than in n crop of heavy yield than the
difference in bushels to the acre would
seem to indieate, a 3.ield of twenty
bushels to the acre. for instance. be
ng worth more than half as much as
a yield of forty bushels. This Is be-
cause the feeding value of the fodder
is very nearly the same in either case.
For this reason. and more particularly
for stock not on full feed, silo own-
ers are finding it tbe best practice to
put their poorest corn In the silo.

GETTING OUT OF THE VVOODS.
If Vott Get Lost Don't LoSe Your Head4
but Follow These Rules,
Ant
contributor to the %Venturi's Home
Companion tells as follows How you
may tind your way out ot lite woods it
you get lost:
"it' you discover tbat you are lost ill
tbe woods sit down and think ealtnly
beet:. over the road you have traveled,
trying to decide where the camp should
lie. Then. if yen have your compass
and it seems to Agree witb your jinig-
ment, stielt- faithfully to that direct
tion. Even If you are wrong in your
decision it is better to Iteep cm in ono
direetion, because you may fail in with
501.110 Stream and etin follow it to a
hunean habitation.
"If you have no compass the sun Is
an 'excellent guide tithing the day.
Should the sky be overcast, place the
point of your knife blade on the end
of your thumb, turn slowly until tba
full shadow of the blade obscures the
mill, and you have discovered whera
the SUI1 is.
"To prevent getting into the circle
habit break off branches of the bushes
you pass. Shut a fire if your inntch
safe is with you -as It should be. Re-
nsember that a fire piled up with damp
wood makes a dense smoke and quick-
ly nttracts aftention. Two fires going
at once, one a little removed from the
other, constitute a well known signal
of distress among woodsmen. The fir-
ing of three shots in suceession-two at
first, then a pause, then the third shot
-is another reconrnized signal if you
happen to have a gun."
DID YOU EVER EAT POI?
Maybe You Wouldn't Care to the Way
They Do It In Hawaii.
Poi is the national dish a the Ha-
waiians, and a poi supper is an event
long to be remembered by foreigners
admitted to participation therein. Poi
iS made from taro, a big„ coarse, dark
skinned vegetablegrown under water,
the size and shape of large sweet po-'
tato, The taro is pounded tint) it be-
comes a coarse, 11101St mass and is
then ieft to rerment
When poi is served each guest bathes
and dries the right hand and then pro-
ceeds to dip the index finger of that
hand into the mass. There is quite a
knach in the operation, and Itis always
necessary to instruct the novice that
there is ntisointely no need to move his
arm, bet ,impty the wrist.

VARICOSE VEINS, ,CURED
NO NAMES USED WITHOUT WRITTEN CONSENT.
• Confined to His Home for Weeks.
"Heavy work, severe -straining and evil habits in youth brought on
Varicose Veins. When I worked hard the aching would become
severe and I was often laid up for a week at a time. My family
Physician told me an operation was my only hope -but I dreaded it.
I tried several specialists, but soon found out alt they wanted was my
money. I commenced to look upon all doctors as httle better than
. rogues. One day my boss asked me why I was off work so mulch and
I told hira my condition. He acIvisecline to consult Drs. Kennedy&
' Kennedy, as he had taken treatment from them himself and knew
they were square and skillful. I wrote them and got Tun NEIV
3•IETROD TREAVIENT. My progress was somewhat slow and during
the first month's treatment I was somewhat discouraged. However;
I continued treatment for -three months longer and was rewarded
with a complete: cure. I could only earn Si:: a -week in a machine
shop before treatment, now I am earning $21 and never loose a day.
I wish all sufferers knew of your Valuable treatment.
