Nile News
A bridal shower was
held. last Thursday
evening at Nile Church
for Patti Rising who is
getting married on
Friday, June 13. Brenda
Brown, Tracey Rising
and Sharon Pollock
assisted Patti in opening
all the lovely gifts.

played during the
evening also.
Mrs. Agnes Foster
visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Leslie Johnston and Bill
for a couple of .days
recently.

Mahon flew to Terrace,

tend their daughter
Lynda's wedding.

Stephen Brindley had
the misfortune to break
his finger playing
baseball. Then, last week
he fell and broke it again.
Elwyn Sillib returned
home from the hospital
on Saturday after having
surgery. Best wishes for

Mrs. Gladys Marshall,
Eric Miller and Kim-
berley spent a few days
down East at Pugwash,
Nova Scotia. They visited
Avard Thompson and
other relatives while
there.

University hospital in
London.
Dave Million of
Calgary, Alberta, former
resident of Colborne
Township passed away on
the weekend at the age of
94.
Dular (Allen) Brown

his finger injured at the
ball tournament in Port
Albert on the weekend.

daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Don Sowerby is in l,ondon
taking a hairdressing
course.

CHURCH NEWS
The Nile Inner Circle is
planning a garage sale on
July 5. Good used articles
are welcome, except
clothing. The money is to
be used for washroom
facilities in the church.
The next meeting is a
week from Tuesday
evening at the home of
Mrs. Allison Paolin.
The Hi C's held a
successful car wash on
May 31 and a couple of
weeks prior to that, the
Sunday School had a
really good turn -out for a
bike-a-thon
with about 25 or 30 bikers
participating. The
youngest one in the bike-
a-thon was Mandy
Mallough, age one year.
After the bike-a-thon hot
dogs and beverages were
served.
The UCW held their
annual supper, turkey,
ham and salad., last
Wednesday evening. It
was quite well attended.
A special church
service is planned for
June 15 as it is Father's
Day. There is to be a
men's choir and
everybody is asked to
bring a friend or relative
with them to church.
Coffee and treats will be
served after church.
SPORTS
The Carlow Country
baseball team made up
mostly of our community
men, has won the last five
regular games.
The Kingsbridgg team
won the 'Port ATbert
tournament slowpitch A
division with Dungannon
placing second. Goderich
teachers won the B
division.
