In a letter to the CRTC committee studying extension of TV service to remote Canadian com- munities, Stinson says reliable satellite reception would end his subscribers' complaints about poor picture quality. He said his company is having trouble providing U.S. channels L. with :— reliable quality because its conventional cable TV antennas are barely able to pull in signals from Detroit and Buffalo. The Bluewater letter is one of more than 300 submissions being considered by the CRTC committee before it reports to the full com- mission May 15. The service extension issue involves four percent of the Canadian population who live in remote areas receiving no television or only OBC service. Playhouse offers dinner -- Huron Country Playhouse is pleased this season to offer a special "Dinner Theatre Package" to theatre goers. The savings and con- venience of this plan will appeal to many visitors to the Playhouse. In co-operation with the Village Inn of Grand Bend, the Playhouse is able to offer an evening performance and, 'meal, served, at the Inn, at a coSt. of $14.50 per person, or $8.50 plus voucher for subscription holders. All reservations will, be handled . through the scription holders can book .on or after April 28. and the general public on or after May 26. Subscriptions are ai/ailable now for 'those interested. • • Guild meets The Huron Tract Spinners and Weavers Guild held their first meeting of 1980 in the Agriculture and Food Board Room at Clinton on Thursd'ay, March 132 with a small attendance due to the stormy night. Ruth Knight, president, reported on the corduroy rug weaving workshop which she had condu.cted in GOderich in February with • eight members taking part. Plans were made for the spinning workshop which wag being held March 18 and 19 with top Canadian spinner Ted Carson of S-treetsville instructing, Seventeen were to take.part in this Plans were also made for a number of rhe to put on an all -day Goderich school in April. Mrs. Knight announced' that several had signed up for a workshop in circular weaving /ot' double weave which ig to be given about the end of April in Goderich. • She announced that she had booked The River Mill, Benmiller for the second annual spinning and weaving exhibition for November 8 and 9, 1980. Pat Lee of Goderich and Toni Vos of Blyth 'showed slides taken at the 1979 exhibition at The River Mill which' were much enjoyed. „Ruth Ann Smith of Goderich was appointed The next meeting is to be held, Tuesday, April 8 at 8 p.m. in the same place.
