Juveniles win SLwmrock championship

Shamrock League
championship without
playing a final game.
Goderich hosted the

Morgan leads Sunset
to CHHL championship
The Sunset Golf Club
hockey team won the
CHHL league cham-
pionshipwith a 3 - 2
victory over Holinesville
last Tuesday night,
March 23.
The win gave Sunset
the title in three straight
games in their best -of -
five series with the
Reekets..-Sunset had -won
earlier 3 - 2 and 9 - 0.
Brad Morgan led SGC
with two goals, his sixth
and seventh of the
playoffs. Morgan, who
scored only six goals
during the regular
schedule^•ggve Sunset a 1 -
0 lead at the 32 second
mark of the first period.
Ray Volland made it'2 -
0 fess than a minute later
with a goal from the
faceoff circle.
I-),olmesville closed the
gap`: to 2 - 1 midway
through the second period
when Greg Burns scored
on a powerplay.
Sunset got one back as
Dave Mclvor stole the
puck at his own blueline
then fed a pass to Morgan
who scored with just 15
seconds remaining in the
second period.
Holmesville made it 3 -
2 with five minutes left in
the third period, Greg
Burns -picking up his -own
rebound to score his
second goal of the game.
Two late penalties th-
warted the Rockets'
chances of sending • the
game into overtime.
It was Sunset's second
appearance in as many
years in the league final,
e last year losing to
O'Brien's in five games.
The CHHL hockey
season closes with an
awards banquet and
dance April 5 at the
Legion beginning at 6
p.m.

Hodges led the Stars
offence with two goals
each while Roger' Lewis,
Larry Gaynor, Rob
Trebish, Doug
Cruickshank and Bill
Peters added one goal
apiece. Peters also
assisted on three goals
while Lewis and Larry
Daer added two assists
apiece.
Lambeth was assessed
21 -two minute minor
penalties in the game and
a five-minute major.
Goderich racked up 12
minor penalties.

annual meeting on March
26.

south section of play.

Lee Ryan topped the
East-West section with
1011/2 points. Jean Cook
