The climb to the Grand
Championship took St.
Clements on a five -game
series in two days.
In their First tour-
nament , game St.
Clements— dispose'd—of
Port Stanley 8-3. They led
4-0 after one period and 7-
1 after two periods.
" - They met tougher
opposition in Zurich, in
their second round
match, but came out on
top 4-1. The Old Saints
scored three times in the
opening - period and a
'single in the second
period before surren-
dering the lone Zurich
goal in the final period.

St. Clements was pressed
by the Goderich Old-
timers in a game that was

In the Grand Cham-
pionship, St. Clements.
faced a' tough test from
the B Division --winners,
Kincardine.
St. Clements scored
four goals in the final
period to win 4-2 in their
third game of the day.
Kincardine led 1-0
heading into the final
period and led 2-1 mid-
way through the period
before St. Clements got
untracked. They scored
three goals in six minutes
to win 9-2.

of the tournament for
Kincardine after their
opening round loss .to
Zurich.,
Kincardine lost a tough
contest in the first round
losing 4-3 on penalty
shots. The teams were
tied ' 1-1 heading into the.
final period but . Zurich
took lead after four
minutes of the period.
'Kincardine fought back
to tie the game on Gary
Juniper's goal and send it
into overtime. In the
overtime Zurich out-
scored Kincardine, 2-1 on
penalty shots.

If the first two games
are any indication, the

Sailors -series --could turrr
into a home game series
reminiscent of last year.
In the opening game of
the series here Thursday
the Sailors ripped the
Monarchs - 7-1, The
Monarchs evened things
up Sunday, shading the
Sailors 7-6 to deadlock the
series • at . one game
apiece.
The third game of the
series will ,be played in
Goderich Friday at 8.30
p.m. and the fourth game
will be held in Walkerton,
Sunday at 2 p.m. The fifth
game will likely go in
Goderich, Friday„ March
7.
The Sailors were full
value for their win in the
opening game, pumping
seven goals past John
Chantry in the Monarch-
net
onarchnet while getting some.

Goderich took a-3-0 lead
after one period and
increased the margin to
6-1 afterr two periods. The

to produce the 7-6 result.
The Sailors trailed 7-4
late in the final period'but
got back in the game with
a goal at 15.01 ,and pulled
within one with a
powerplay goal with just
over a minute left in the
game.
Dave Bartliff and Dan
Duncan led the Sailors
with two goals apiece.
Wayne Rau and Dan
Colquhoun scored one Hamilton chipped in with

Hanover tied the game

Goderich again took the
lead after eight minutes
of the third period on
Phillip's second goal • of
the game. Hanover
forced the overtime with
a goal late in the period.
Goderich won the game
scoring on two of three
penalty shots. Harvey
Livingston and bob
Alexander' with the
winner, were the
Goderich scorers.
Bill Crawford carne up
big in the Goderich nets
stopping two of : three
penalty shots.
In their second game
the Oldtimers blanked
London 2-0 to advance to
the semi-finals. Buck
Million scored waht
proved to be the winning
goal in the second period
and Ken Lee added an
`insurance marker into an
empty net in the final
period.
St. Clements defeated
Goderich in the semi-
final scoring three times
in the final period in the 5-
2 victory.
Harvey Livingston and
Jack Meriam scored the
goderich goals.
