honored to have this bell.
It is a;fitting tribute to the
Legion and the Port of
Goderich.
--There were several1
months of ' com-
munications both with the
Department of National
Defence and the Navy
Department and finally
the bell was found on
board H.M.C.S. Haida,
located at Ontario Place
in Toronto. Lieutenant
Commander Frank
Stockwell, captain of the
Haida released the bell to
Captain Davis, - an
associate member of

The "Ways and Means
Committee" of the
Branch was in charge of
the research of the bell
and picture of the -ship at
an Honors Awards night,
the presentations were
made from this com- :
mittee to the Branch. Mr.
the ship to President Roy
Mugford • and Mona
Davis,' secretary -
treasurer of the .com-
mittee presented the bell.
President Mugford
thanked the committee
on behalf of the Branch.
We at 1A are justly
proud ",to haye had a
warship named after our
town. The following is a'
quote 'from a letter
received from the
Department of National
Defence:
"The decision to
transfer' the bell to your
-Branch is in keeping with
our aim to have the ar-
tifact displayed in the
area where it has
historical significance".
The" Legion hopes to
haVa the bell on display
shortly and interested
residents of Goderich are
welcome to come and see
it.'
Several years ago the
