vehicles involved was not available at
press time. Goderich OPP said Highway 21
between Dunlop and Amberley would re-
main closed indefintely.
Driving conditions in other areas were
less hazardous, although police reported
numerous vehicles sliding into ditches and
occupants receiving minor injuries. The
transportation and communications
ministry reported Highway 401 between
Chathaitt anu toronLu and Highway 402
from London to Sarnia were slippery,
although more accidents occurred east of
London to Woodstock than west of London.
Snowfall in many areas was relatively
light but moderate to strong winds whip-
ped up the fresh fallen snow. A southern
flow of air dropped heavier snowfalls
along Lake Erie on Thursday, but winds
shifted to the west Friday, picking up
moisture off Lake Huron, creating squalls
in the snowbelt areas.
198.5 was an active year
in Goderich and area
• from page 1
The summer was active in the area as
Goderich Township hosted its
Sesquicentennial celebrations. The
township's planning committees did a
marvelous job and events unfolded
throughout the year leading up to the
major celebrations in Hohnesville in July.
Thousands of former residents returned
for the one-week bash and were treated to
some of the best entertainment available.
It was hospitality Goderich Township
style.
This year, the harbour expansion and
redevelopment project will continue and
the village of Port Albert and the Township
of Colborne will be holding special
celebrations.
Also the town will still be active in its
attempt to annex a parcel of land located
in Goderich Township. The annexation bid
was launched in the hopes of attracting an
industrial concern to the area.
1985 was a relatively gond year, let's
hope the next 12 months will be even
better.
