Machinist Atoms lose 5-2 to
St. Marys in league play
The Goderich Machinist Atones fell
behind by three goals after two periods
and were unable to recover in losing 5-2 to
St. Marys in Shamrock League action in
St. Marys Saturday.
St. Marys took the lead as Kevin Seguin
scored the first of his three goals and the
only goal of the first period. The home
team added two more goals in the second
period to carry a 3-0 lead into the final
period.
Goderich finally got untracked in the
third period as Paul Wheeler converted a
pass from team-mates Jeff Beange and
Chris Dickson to narrow the deficit to 3-1.
However, St. Marys countered with two
goals in the span of a minute to increase its
lead to 5-1. Goderich scored its second goal
late in the period as Todd Papple scored
with Jared Whalen assisting. Jason Hayter
played a solid game on defence for the
Machinist Atoms despite the loss. -
Goderich will play/ in Ilderton Thursday
and Strathroy will provide the opposition
in a -Saturday game here at the Goderich
Memorial Arena.
Shiri's Girls take five points
Monday Night Ladies League
Shirt's Girls had a good night as they took
five points from the Marionettes. The
"Girls" had some high games rolled by
Mary Lynne Telford with a 194, Joyce Pet-
tus bowled 182, and 212. Dorothy Bourdeau
shot a 636 triple and Shirley Kennedy shot a
252, for a 645 triple. Betty Fisher led the
Marionettes to a two point win. Good games
were rolled by Marilyn Bannister with a 195,
Ett Bradley 197, Betty Fisher 263, 609 triple.
The OIttimers are making a run for first
place as they took five points from the No
Names. The "hot" rollers for the team were
Chris Reed 213, Melba Maillet 215, Sandy
Fielder 241, Nancy White 274 for a 638 triple.
The No Names came away with two
points, led by Jean Mundle with a 207, Del
Geddes rolled a 558 triple.
Marg Hall led the Blazers to a seven point
win over Auleen's Angels. Good games roll-
ed by Jane- Fuller with a 210, Joyce
Hamilton with a 239, Marg Hall shot 199, 212,
224, for a 635 triple. The "Angels" couldn't
seem to get on track but had nice games
rolled by Auleen Theriault with 200 and
Carolyn Carter rolled 234, for a 545 triple.
Troubles Back bowled against 100 percent
of their average and took seven points. High
games were rolled by Deb Stright with 172.
Mary Chambers with 171 and Audrey Dur-
nin with 224, for a 544 triple.
Wednesday Afternoon Ladies
Mildred Cook led the Firebirds with a 219
and 554 and helped the team take five points
from the Edsels who had Sharon Sanders
bowl a 210.
Games of 233, 215 and 210 were rolled.
Audrey Brindley led the Porsches to five
points from Love Bugs. Pat Burroughs also
helped with 240.
Shirley Smith bowled a 514 and Yvonne
Dougherty bowled a 508 and helped Hot
Rods take five points from the Caddies.
Mick Chambers rolled a 503 and the
Ramblers made good use of spares to sneak
two points from the Ponies. June Mohring
shot a 234 for the Ponies.
Mary Lou Melick shot a 531 and Anne
Linklater shot a 229 and led the Hondas tak-
ing five points off the Thunderbirds.
Marie Park rolled a 210 and 217.
Rolls Royce took seven points this week
from the Mustangs.
Winners of the Hi Low Tournament were
Helena Young and Janet Rumig. Also ad-
vancing to next round ale Irene Sparks,
Mary Lou Melick, Shirley Smith and Rita
Tigert.
