period and the Sailors picked up the pace,
playing on even terms with Walkerton
through most of the period. The Blackhawks
scored on two powerplays with Girdler and
Dan Hill the • goalscorers, but the Sailors
were unable to cash in on their chances.
It was all Blackhawks in the third period

With six players in the lineup probably
looking ahead to the Huron -Perth football'
championship they would win the next day, ,
it was tough for coach Dan Duncan to
motivate his team, but the Sailors skipper
will have his team at full -steam ahead for
this weekend's games.
One bright spot in the Sailors' lineup was
newcomer Rick Shakes, recently acquired
from the Junior "B" Listowel Cyclones.
Novice split games in Shamrock play
The Goderich Novices split a weekend
series in Shamrock League play losing 8-2
to Lambeth here Saturday and rebounding
with a 2-0 victory over Mount Brydges Sun-
day.
Lambeth jumped on the novices early
scoring in the first minute of play. They led
3-1 after one period of play, increased the
margin to 5-1 after two periods and clinch-
ed the win outscoring Goderich 3-1 in the
final period.
Ken McClarty scored the first Goderich
goal converting a pass from linemate
Craig Corriveau. Mike McBride scored the
other Goderich goal on an unassisted effort
with three seconds remaining in the game.
The novices rebounded from the barrage
with a stingy defensive effort in a 2-0 win
over Mount Brydges Sunday.
The teams played through a scoreless
first period and McBride scored what pro-
ved to be the winning goal five minutes in-
to the second period, again on an
unassisted effort.
Jeff Klages scored an insurance goal for
Goderich late in the final period with Rob
Kinihan and Lee Williamson assisting on
the play.
The Goderich Shamrock Novice team
played two games over the Nov. 3 weekend
and they won one and lost the other.
In Goderich on Nov. 2 the Novice team
had trouble getting it going and Exeter took
an early 1-0 lead. In the second period
Goderich started to put things together with
a goal to tie things up. The goal was scored
by Derek Gilchrist, assisted by Jason
Meriam and Robbie Kinahan.
Five minutes later Goderich went up 2-1
on a unnassisted goal bylDavid Lumley.
Exeter fought back with two goals in the
third period to beat Goderich 3-2.
On Nov. 3 Goderich travelled to Exeter to
avenge their previous defeat. The Novice
team got on the board first on a goal by.
Jason Meriam assisted by Mike McBride.
Then four minutes later Goderich scored
again on a goal by David Lumley assisted by
Jason Volland.
In the second period Goderich went up 3-0
on a unassisted goal by Bryan Hodges. Ex-
eter managed to scored their only goal of the
game in the second period. Goderich
answered back midway through the third
period to clinch the victory 4-1.
The Goderich Shamrock atom team
hosted Lambeth on Saturday and were
defeated 2-1.
There was no scoring in the first period.
But with the second period not even two
minutes old Lambeth got on the board. Four
minutes Eater they went up 24.
Goderich only managed to score one goal
and that came in the third period. The goal
was scored by Chad Papple assisted by
Jason Volland.
Despite several opportunities on the
power play the Goderich atom team lost a
close one 2-1.
Belles score two easy league victories
The Goderich Belle ringette team played
two games this weekend and won both.
Saturday they travelled to Huron Park
and recorded a 14-2 victory. After a few
disorganized minutes the Belles pulled
together and started scoring at the 9:13
mark with a goal by Vicky Vanderburgh
which was followed by a goal from Angie
Chisholm.
Huron Park scored their first goal at 6:28
but Goderich pulled ahead with three goals
by Stacey Rean from Vicky Vanderburgh at
5:40, 5:21 and 4:35. Rean scored another
from Becky Morris at 1:30 and Huron Park

countered at 1:03 to end the first period 6-2.
The girls started scoring the next eight
goals at 14:09 and 9:37 with Chisholm scor-
ing from Rean. Vanderburgh then added
two goals from Anne Samplonius and
Chisholm at 7:51 and 5:26. Goderich's last
four goals were scored while Huron Park
had a two man advantage. Rean scored
three goals and Chisholm scored the last
marker.
Sunday night ten goals were scored in the
first period. Tammy Talbot led the scoring
with three goals from Chisholm, Vander -
burgh and Kristen Egner. Chisholm also
scored three goals from Rean, Vander -
burgh, Samplonius and Talbot. Vander-
