The Women's House of $race County, a
family resource centre serving the+,faeeds of
families iin Crisis.in Bruce, Grey aid Huron
candies, will be officially opened' at a rib•
bon cutting ceremony November 16.
Unlike a women's shelter which is
primarily concerned with helping physical-
ly and mentally abused women, a family
resource centre's role is enlarged to provide
shelGer and help for a number of crisis situa
tions; family violence, marital difficulties
arising from rape, pregnancy, alcoholism,
housing, employment or health.
The Ontaio Ministry of Community and
Social Services has agreed tofund per
cent of the budget for the establishrdent of
the centre and the remaining 20 per cent will
come from fund raising.
The operation of the Women's House will
be administered by a board made up of in-
terested citizens from the community.
Statistics obtained from police, doctors,
lawyers etc. shows the amount of family
violence in the area to warrant a shelter.
Statistics nation wide show one in 10 women
is physically abused by her spouse.
The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Exemplar Chapter has donated money for the purchase of a
water play table for the K Day Care Centre in Goderich. President Eleanore Larder stopped
by the day care centre to watch Stacey Armstrong 4, and Matthew Selkirk, 3, enjoy the fun
. of the new activity. The sorority used the proceeds from their ladies night out for the play
table. They have also donated used children's books and toys to the day care centre which is
looking for donations of toys and books for the children's use. ( Photo by Sharon Dietz)

the future with courage and faith.""They
talk about a woman's sphere
As though it had a limit
There's not a place in earth or heaven
There's not a task in mankind given
There's not a blessing or a woe
There's not a whisper 'yes' or 'no'
There's not a life, or death, or,birth
There's not a feather's weight of worth
Without a woman in it."
