As the Royal Canadian Legion this year
celebrates across Canada its 60th anniver-
sary a special effort is being made by
Goderich Legion Branch 109 to mark this
season of Remembrance which occurs from
Nov tuber 3rd to llth.
The Branch 109 poppy committee, led by
comrades Howard Carroll and John
Duckworth, is now busy bringing together
the many aspects of the poppy campaign
that make for another successful distribu-
tion of poppies and wreaths and well -
attended services of remembrance.
All organizations and business concerns in
the community have been contacted to
again purchase a wreath for display at the
cenotaph or make a donation to the Legion
poppy fund. A special Branch bulletin to all
members will be requesting their full par-
ticipation in the Branch poppy canvass and
their presence at both the Branch church
and cenotaph parades.
A successful poppy canvass is especially
important if the Branch is to carry on this
veteran and community related program
which is financed from the poppy trust ac-
count. Last year the contributions to the
poppy fund enabled the Branch to distribute
this fund as follows- $1,000 to Parkwood
hospital in London for veterans comforts not
otherwise supplied; $1,400 to Branch 109
bursaries to assist local students in their
education beyond the high school level; $525
to award prizes to local students who
entered the Legion Poems essay and Poster
contest which stresses the theme of remem-
brance and citizenship, and $2,861 to the
Alexandra and Marine General hospital for
needed medical equipment.
Legion members and citizens may make a
donation to the Branch 109 poppy fund. All
doantions of $5,00 and over are eligible for
an income tax receipt. Contributions to the
poppy fund may be made during the annual
canvass by Branch members on Sunday,
Nov. 3 or to the poppy boxes which will be
located in many business outlets in our com-
munity.

Over 80 Kinettes across Huron and Perth

Adele Drennan of Goderich, co-ordinator
of the sale, said the eight Kinette clubs in
Zone K will be participating in the'
Poinsettia flower of hope sale.
The profit realized by the sale of these
