The GDCI Senior Vikings have been crashing their way through the
Huron -Perth regular season. On Thursday in Listowel they beat the
Lords 17-0. Two weeks ago the teams met in Goderich and the Vik-
ings won 52-0. The Lords were a much improved team on defense.
But on offense they were stymied by the highly agressive Viking D.
On Thursday the Vikings get a second crack at the Exeter Pan-
thers. The Panthers are the only team that stands in the way of
another Viking championship.( photo by Todd Mowatt)

The Vikings piled up a total of 530 yards in
offence and had 23 first downs in the one-
sided contest. They scored two touchdowns
in each of the first three quarters and one in
the fourth.
Wayne Nivins ran an eight yard blast play
for the opening touchdown and Scott Garrow
ran 59 yards on a quarter back draw for an
other. John Kalbfleisch went 22 yards on a
wingback motion sweep play and Garrow
ran a 28 yard quarter -back sweep in the se-
cond quarter for touchdowns.
Bill Trebish's 32 yard off -tackle run and
backup quarterback Greg Alcock's six yard
sweep were the third quarter scoring plays.
Rob Dempsey got the final touchdown on a
six yard sweep in the fourth quarter. Jim
Wright kicked six converts in seven attemp-
ts.
The Vikings were able to run both inside
and outside behind the strong play of Mike
Bush, Scot Glew, Dave Duncan, Jim Wright.
Bryon Bowman, Rob Middel and Richard
Boddy along the offensive line.
The Viking defense was able to contain the
lacklustre Huskies with little problem.
The Exeter Panthers, who are 1-3 so far,
will be here Thursday to try to dent the Vik-
ings armour in a game beginning at 1:30

The GDCI Senior Vikings are ready for
their re -match with the Exeter Panthers
here Thursday. The Panthers defeated the
Vikings in the first game of the season, but
since then, the Vikings have shown steady
progress in compiling a three and one won -
lost record. Meanwhile, the Panthers ai e
still undefeated at 4-0.
The Vikings latest victory came Thursday
in Listowel when they defeated the 1 d)SS
Lords 17-0. The game was a lot closer than
the 57-0 pasting the Vikes handed the Lords
here two weeks ago.
Part of the difference was a defensive
alignment used by the Lords which held
Goderich to just over 100 yards in offence
compared to their 400 yard output of the first
game. The other was the absence of a little
more desire on the part of the Vikings.
Desire does not come too easily when you
are playing a team which you have just
beaten by 57 points. That should not be a
problem for the Vikings here Thursday.
The only scoring of the first half in
Listowel was a 30 yard single kicked by
Shawn Larder. Shawn Rahbek scored the
first touchdown of the game in the third
quarter on a two yard run. Grant Garrow
threw to Ken Van Osch for a two point ton -
vert following the touchdown. Larder added
another single before the end of the quarter.
The final Viking touchdown came in the
fourth quarter on a 33 yard pass and run
play from Ken Van Osch to Scott Stokes.
Shawn Larder's convert made the final
score 17-0.
.The Viking defence was strong, controll-
ing the play both on the ground and in the
air. Darren Connolly had a strong game
from his right cornerback position.
The Vikes get their second shot at the Ex-
eter Panthers here Thursday afternoon at 3
