duet "Reapers are needed" was sung by
Mrs. Emerson Rodger and Mrs. Tom Jar -

The president Mrs. Don Haines conducted
a short'business session and closed with a
prayer poem. .

•The October meeting was held at the
home of the president Mrs. Roy Deer. Order
of service of Thanksgiving was followed
from the Glad Tidings Scripture readings
were given by Carol Daer.
Erma Cartwright gave a reading, Vic
Stackhouse was the special speaker, his
topic being Thanksgiving.
The November meeting will be at the
home of Erma Cartwright.
KNOX UNITED CHURCH
Lori Miliian and Christine Bush played
several hymns on piano and violin as the
congregation gathered.
The choir sang "Praise and Thank The
Lord" and "Sing Alleluia". Mrs. Gordon
Gross was organist and Mrs. B illian
as pianist.
The minister Gary .T: Shuttleworth c ose
for his sermon "Thankfulness for Provi-
sions". The offering was received by Gor-
don Gross, Brian Ramsey, Peter Verbeek
and Laurence Plaetzer.
AUBURN 4-H
Meeting three was held at Linda Cunn-
ingham's on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.
The group talked about pie fillings while
Julie Cunningham and Shannon Snell
Mildred Lawlor
started the coconut cream pie and Julia
Glenn and. Lori Armstrong started the Cor-
nish Pastries.
Glenyce McClinchey ; showed the group
different edges to put on pie crusts.
Members did the quiz in the book while the
food was cooking.
Meeting four took place at Annette
Losereit's. The group talked about the dif-
ferent kinds of cakes as Anita Gross and
Leona Cunningham started peanut butter
cupcakes and Denise Gross and Lorraine
McClinchey started the chocolate eake.
Glenyce McClinchey showed the group
how to fold eggs into the mixture. The group
talked about the different cakes that were
nutritious. -
The way a cake should look and , the
reasons for it not -turning out were discuss-
ed.
Meeting five was held Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. at
the home of Linda Cunningham. Not all
members attended this meeting.
This meeting dealt with frostings. Each
member brought a piece of butter cake for
Linda and Annette to look at. Glenyce did a
demonstration using different icing bag con-
es.
The members iced the topof cupcakes us-
ing the "different techniues they were
shown.
Meetings 6 and 7 were also held at night
and members discussed the bake sale being

60th wedding anniversar
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robb were in Under-
wood on Sunday to attend the 50th wedding
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart
Bradley.
Kenneth Wilkins, of Ridgetown and
Elizabeth Wilkins of Toronto were home on
the weekend with their parents Charles
and Mayme Wilkins. ;
On Saturday evening the Wilkins had
Laura and Mabel Campbell of Toronto,
with them for dinner, and on Sunday some
of the family were home to help Elizabeth
celebrate her 21st birthday:
Bhetta MacLennan was a patient in St.
Joseph's Hospital in London for a week.
She now has returned home and since her
tests seems to be a lot better.
Mr. Art Mathewman has just returned
home, after a week's vacation spent with
his son Doug Mathewman in Vancouver,
British Columbia. Mr. Mathewman was
saying that his week's stay in Vancouver
was just perfect, and not one bit of rain
was had.
The community would like to send its
congratulations to Clarence and Eleda
Irwin on their upcoming 60th wedding
anniversary this coming weekend. Due to
a sickness in the immediate family the
celebration for this outstanding occasion
was cancelled.
The community would also like to send
its congratulations to Charles and Mayme
Wilkins on the occasions of their 35th
wedding anniversary which will be
celebrated on Thanksgiving weekend.
Produce decorates church
for Port Albert service
Thanksgiving Service was observed at
Christ Anglican Church Sunday afternoon.
The ladies from the A.C.W. had the church
decorated with produce from the home and
farm, and the Rev. Robert Crocker, in his
sermon, spoke about the many things that
we should be thankful for. He reminded the
congregation that he thanks God for this
land which is comparatively free from pro-
blems. During the service. Rev. Crocker
blessed the new communion cloths and
linens. Visitors were present from London
and Moose Factory.
Steve Corkutn of Sydney. Nova Scotia
spent the holiday weekend with his family in
the village.

This weekend was Thanksgiving for most
of us, however area residents Sam and Nan-
cy Cowan, had their home decorated with
Christmas decorations including a
.Christmas tree with many presents under it.
Sam Cowan plays the part of Santa Claus.
The Cowans spent the winter at their home
in Florida, and the Thanksgiving Weekend
gives them the opportunity of getting
together as a family, Keith and Sandy
Cowan, and family Blair and Heather from
West Hill; Clyde and Betty Cowan and fami-
ly. Kelly. Jason and Guy, from Stouffville
and Brent and Patti Cowan and family, Ben
