When the Signal arrives' Wednesday after-
noon I read the front page then look flran
tically for my column -- Is tt in;- where- is it
changed? The why, where and whens are
always a mystery - part of the game. In a
busy office everything moves fast - always
deadlines.
It's amazing to watch the bits and pieces
fall into place - then you hear a big sigh of
relief that is enough to lift the roof. Then
everyone heads for the doors - so now you
know why there are so many doors on that
building.
Here's what happened when someone

• Jack 'Riddell, M.P.P. Huron -Middlesex,
on behalf of John Sweeney, Ontario's
Minister of Community and Social Services,
announced plans for a bed conversion pro-
fect at Huronview Home for the Aged, in
Uinten.
Riddell said the ministry would provide
assistance to Huron County, operat irs of the
tome, to convert 10 of its residential care
)3eds to extended care. Extended care beds
are intended for the frailer residents of the
;home, who require more than one and a half
tours of daily personal and nursing care.
"I am pleased that the ministry can offer
this assistance to help the home expand its
-services and personnel," said Riddell. "This
illustrates the Ontario government's com-
mitment to ensure that an appropriate level
of quality care is available for those seniors
that need it."
Huronview, a municipal home for the ag-
,;ed, operated by the County of Huron, plans
to complete the conversion project in Oc-
tober and offer area seniors a total of 129
residents care and 181 extended care beds.
"I am really pleased with the news," said
Wayne Lester, administrator of Huronview
Home. "These additional beds will provide a

fourth year on Thursday, Oct. 10. Rehearsal
time is 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and it is
anticipated that all the past members will
be at MacKay Centre for Seniors for the
initial practice.
There are openings in all sectldtis of the
choir and anyone who is 55 or older .and
enjoys singing will be welcome. If you
happen to be a contralto you may possibly
get even a heartier welcome for this section

last June, the MacKay Choristers placed
third in the Parts Choir Competition of the
Ontario Senior Games in Kitchener. The
choir competed against 10 other choirs,
many of whom came from much larger
centres.
The group's amiable, energetic and
knowledgeable director, Irla Stewart, can
be given much of the credit for the choir's
success. She has the knack of choosing
music that suits the voice range of senior
singers and her enthusiasm is highly
contagious.
The MacKay Choristers participate in the
community's Christmas Concert and the
annual Sound of Godrich with the
Harbouraires, ('raigellen Singers and
Iaketown Band. The group also entertains
at MacKay Centre, Maitland Manor and
Huronview.
There is a good feeling of fellowship and
fun among the members and they are
anxious to share their gond times with any

Loans of up to $10,000 are now available
for home energy improvements under a new
program sponsored by Ontario Hydro and
municipal utilities and administered ex-
clusively by the Royal Bank of Canada.
The financing program for homeowners is
called the EnerMark Loan Plan. loans
under the EnerMark Loan Plan are
available at lower than prime interest rates
established by Ontario Hydro to cover a
variety of home energy improvements from
installing electric heat or central air condi-
tioning to upgrading electrical service.
The Royal Bank will administer the loans,
ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 per home and
payable over one to five years.
All major Canadian banks were asked to
submit proposals to administer the loan
plan on Ontario Hydro's behalf, after which
the Royal Bank was selected.
"In most cases loan application and ap-
proval can be completed within 24 to 48
hours," said Jim Gorman, Royal Bank
Senior Vice -President of Retail Banking, ad-
ding that, "all loans are life insured at no
additional cost to the customer.'
"The program offers the convenience of
one-stop shopping for the customer," says
Dane MacCarthy, Ontario Hydro's Vice
President of Marketing. "The registered
contractor can give customers all the infor-
mation they need about electric options and
can also help them fill out the required loan
form right in the home." Contractors must
register in the plan before they can offer
these loans to their customers.
For more information, contact your local
Ontario Hydro office, municipal utility or
any branch of the Royal Bank and ask about
the EnerMark Loan Plan.
