In the 1830's Cornelius McKee came from Ireland along with other
brothers and settled on the 4th concession of Goderich Township on
lots 17 and 18. In turn the farm was passed on to one of his sons,
Thomas McKee. Upon his death the farm was passed on to one of his
daughters 'Victoria Alice McKee, who had married a young Scotsman
George Alexander Falconer, whose own family had settled in Kinloss
Township also In the 1830's. From this marriage came four children,
Thomas fl4cKee (Mac) Falconer, Alice (Mrs. Arthur Tlchborne), Victor
Falconer and Marguerite (Mrs. James Horton). Victor Falconer took over
the farm following his father's death in 1939. Victor married the former
Eleanor Johnston in 1931 and they had two sons Ronald and John.
Ronald married the former Arlene Richmond of Morris Township and
they have one daughter Melody Falconer.Today Ren runs the family
farm having taken over the farm following the death of his father in 1968.
The second son John married the former Sandra Daw of Clinton who
had three children Michael Falconer, Marna (Mrs. Robert Culbert) and
Sherri (Mrs. David Bird).
In 1962 our family moved to Mississauga where I resided for some
years, and while there I began my career in Funeral Service with, the
Turner & Porter Funeral Homes. In 19751 returned to Clinton to work for
the Ball Funeral Home which was founded In Clinton In 1902 by the late
Mr. Nelson Bali—
In' 1978 my wife the former Marguerite McLean of Euphemia Township
(Lambton Co.) and myself purchased the business and now operate it as
the Ball & Falconer Funeral Home Ltd. We now have a new generation of
Falconer's with our son Jon -Michael born in• 1983 and our newest
addition a daughter Erin born July 4, 1985.
Today in the year 1985, 150 years after our ancestors settled in
Goderich Township, the Falconer family is still there on Lot 17 of
concessions 3 and 4 of the township, with other branches of the family
spread out elsewhere.
We are proud of our family roots In Goderich Township, as well as the
service we have provided to the residents of Goderich Township and
Clinton when they have required our services.
