Valedictorian recalls highlights
at Robertson Public School
BY EMMA HOLL.INGWORTH
Well, we finally made it. I think at times
we wondered if we ever would. Tonight
marks the end of our elementary school
years. It is a night when we will look back on
our success in grade school and look for-
ward to the future when we will enter the
halls of the high school.
Although it was a lot of work, we managed
to squeeze in some fun. The school play
"Showboat" was a learning and exciting ex-
perience. At times we were afraid it
wouldn't turn out, but with a lot of hard work
we managed to pull it together and have fun
at the same time.
Our school's sports involved the best of
our athletes who grouped together to try and
beat the teams from the other schools,
which, we are proud to say we often did.
This year some of us were involved in the
choir and instrumental group where we
learned to perform in front of an audience
and have some fun at the same time.
Our school trip took us to Canada's
Wonderland. We had a great day, seeing the
shows, eating the food and daring the rides.
There are a lot of people who. have helped
us get far and I would like to take a , few
minutes to single them out. Mr. Bogie, Mr.
Matthies and Mr. Moore were our Grade 8
homeroom teachers as well as being rotary
teachers. They deserve special thanks for

persevering with us throughout the year.
Mr. Cameron was our instrumental
teacher. Somehow he managed to turn a
group of student musicians into a musical
ensemble. Special thanks should be given to
Mr. MacGregor from the high school who
woke up at the crack of dawn to give us ex-
tra help in music. Mrs. Smith taught the
people who weren't in instrumental how to
sing and read music.
Mr. Reid and Mrs. Bruimsma taught us.
the first co-ed shop and home ec. and
deserve special thanks. Mr. Dyck taught us
phys. ed. He's a real sport. Mme. Nguyen
had the difficult task of trying to teach us
French. I'd like to thank her for her pa-
tience. Mr. Scott was our guidance teacher
andhe always told us where to go.
We are sorry to hear that Mr. Smith and
Mr. Moore are leaving'. I suppose Mr. Smith
feels that there won't be a challenge left
after we're gone and I guess Mr. Moore had
one migraine too many. They have served
our school for many years -and deserve
special thanks and our best wishes for the
future.
Special thanks should also go to our fami-
ly and friends for encouraging us to do our
best and for supporting us when we needed
it.
To my fellow classmates I would like to
say, "Have a great summer and good luck
in grade nine."
