Over 100 artisans will attend annual craft festival
The annual Festival of Arts and Crafts in
Goderich on July 18, 19 and 20 promises to be

Joe and Anna Vaneck from Mt. Bridges
will be setting up their displays of woodwork
including knick knack shelves,, pool
cabinets, and spoon racks for the fifth time
,ps exhibitors in the outdoor festival.
"We always have a real good show here.
X'd say Goderich is the best show we go to,"
said Joe. He and his wife attend about a
. dozen different craft festivals each year.
The Vanecks, have been selling their han-
diwork for about 12 years and travel
anywhere between Windsor and Barrie to
attend shows.
"Goderich is a very beautiful town. From
what we've seen we agree that this is the
prettiest town in Canada," Joe said.
The Vanecks commented that they've
never faced.bad weather during the last five
festivals in Goderich. "One year we had a
little spit of rain but it didn't hurt us a bit,"
said Anna.

be another exhibit on the square for the
festival. This will be Doug's second year as
a participant but he said he remembers go-
ing to the festival when he was "yea" high,
at least 10 or 15 years ago.
Doug lives in Auburn and exhibits his "
wares in about six local shows every year.
He finds that, "Even if you don't get the
sales the weekend of the festival, customers
see your work and will often come back to
you."
"Many of the exhibitors return year after
year because they enjoy the Goderich
festival so much and the festival is growing
every year," said Michele Hansen, festival
co-ordinator for the second year in a row. 'I
expect about a ten per cent increase in the •
number of exhibitors over last year."
Michele said exhibitors will be attending
from Barrie, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Owen
Sound and anywhere inbetween.
Special festival events planned for this.
year include a flower show by the Goderich
Garden Club in the Courthouse. This year
the flower show theme is "Salute to Youth"
in honor of the Internation Year of Youth.
The McKay Seniors will have a tea garden
set up on the square during the festivities
and the photography club will be holding a
photo contest in The Livery all weekend.
Children will be treated to a performance
of "The Ugly Duckling" by the Tim Gosley
Puppets on Thursday afternoon at 2:00.
The Shriners will be hosting the annual
Fish Fry from 4 to 8:00 on Friday night and
on Saturday the Rotarians will hold a book
sale on the square.
Participants in the festival will exhibit
their wares Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.,,
Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 a.m., and Saturday
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
