Bob Lumley nets four goals in soccer
Coach Dan McCallum's Mosquitos opened
their minor soccer schedule last Tuesday
evening with a resounding 4-0 home victory

all four goals. Only weak finishing by the
other forwards prevented a much larger.

they faded a little in the second half. He

they will be meeting a number of strong op-
ponents this summer.
Goderich Atoms continued their sparkling
form last Thursday with a 7-0 win at
Wingham. Coach Al Fisher's high -scoring
machine left theiropponents with a slight
case of shell -shock, as Jeff Klages and Drew
Macaulay led the scoring parade with two
goals apiece. Mike McBride, Donnie Rivers,
and Murray Hunter added singles. The
Atoms next game will be on Thursday, June
20, at home against Seaforth (Kick off: 7
p.m. at G.D.C.I. field).
In the Atom House League last Monday
Blu BBombers tied Red Hots 1-1. In the se-
cond game Tigers edged Blue Bombers 5-4.
These results leave Red Hots and Blue
Bombers in a tie for the lead with three

The Squirts visited Seaforth last Tuesday,
and came away with a 5-2 win. Centre for-
ward David Lumley and inside -left Steven
Linklater scored two goals each, with
inside -right Jeremy Powell adding a single.
Brian Fisher was sound in goal and stopped
a penalty shot in the second half.
In the Squirt House League last Wednes-
day league -leading Giants drew both their
games. The firstgame against Bombers
ended in a 0-0 score. In the second game
against Raiders the result was 2-2. Steven
Linklater scored both Giants' goals, and
David Lumley notched both Raiders' goals.
As a result of these'games Giants opened up
a two point lead over Raiders. Bombers are
,in third position four points off the pace.
United holds lead
in men's ball hockey
The slick, high -scoring United squad con-
tinues to lead the Goderich Men's Ball
Hockey League, with a record of nine wins
and one loss, for 18 points, as of June 13,
after the first,,,10 scheduled games. United
leads the league in all statistical depart-
ments, with 52 goals for, only 19 against and
a goals -against average of 1.9 per game.
United has four players among the top 10
scorers in the league.
Sherwood Express, with a record of 6-3-1,
for 13 points is in second place, with 51 goals
for, 20 against and a goals against average
of 2.0. The Warriors are in third place with
12 points, on a record of 6-4-0, with 33 goals
for, 36 against and an average of 3.6 goals
against per game.
Further down the scale are the Rebels, in
fourth place, sporting a 4-6-0 records, for
eight points. The Rebels have 34 goals for, 43
against and a 4.3 goals against average. The
Marauders are still hanging onto fifth
place,with a 2-6-2.6 record and 22 goals for,
40 against and.an average of 4.0 In last place
are the Brewers; with only one win, against
eight losses -and a tie, for three points: The
Brewers have been badly outscored,
managing only 19 goals for, compared to 51
against. Letting in an average of 5.1 goals
per game -has not helped the Brewer's
cause.
In individual statistics, Sherwood's Rick
Anderson is the league's leading point -
getter, with nine goals, 15 assists, for 24
points, as of July 13. There is a three way tie
for second on. the point parade, between the
Warriors' Todd Graham, 12-9-21; United's
Rob MacDonald, 11-10-21 and United's Bill
Peters, 8-13-21. Following close behind is
Tom Smith, of Sherwood Express, 13-5-18;
Andy Fowler, Sherwood, 8-7-15; Brad Arm-
sttong, Rebels, 9-4-13; Larry Boyce, Rebels,
4-8-12; Ron Sowerby, United, 6-5-11 and
Mark Frayne, United, 4-7-11.

assisting on two. Brad Armstrong scored
both markers for the Rebels.
Todd GrMham had two goals and an assist,
as the Warriors downed the Brewers 4-2.
Randy Middel and Mark Rau also scored for
the Warriors and Tom Profit netted both
Brewer tallies.
United blanked the Marauders 4-0, led by
Brian Shewfelt, with a goal and an assist
and Ron (Tag) Sowerby, with two assists.
Dennis Donaniuk, Rob McDonald and Steve
Chase also scored in the game.
United came up with another shutout ef-
fort on June 13. With stalwart Fred
Schoemaker in net, United ran up a 5-0 score
against the Warriors. Bill Peters had a goal
and three assists for United and Bruce
Melick chipped in a goal and two assists.
Rob McDonald, Mark .Frayne and Dave
Moore also scored for United.
The Rebels -got by the Marauders 5-3 in
another June 13 contest. Lary Boyce scored
once and added an assist for the Rebels, and
Jim Horton, Chris Pitre, Jim Mathers and
Randy Anderson each added a goal. Kevin
Telford, Randy Stoddart and Larry Kelly all
scored for the Maragders and Andrew
Telford pitched in with two assists.

Anderson of the Rebels mixed it up at the
14:46 mark of the second and final period
and both received an automatic game
miscond ct for fighting.
In the final June 13 game, Sherwood came
up with a 9-1 blowout of the Brewers. Rick
Anderson padded his league -leading point
total, with two goals and three assists for
Sherwood in the game. Jim Young scored
the lone Brewers marker,- assisted by Steve
Profit at the 4:49 mark of the first period to
tie the score at one - but the Express took
over the scoring from there.
Leafs edge Titans 4-3
Action got . underway recently in the
Goderich Recreation „Boys Ball `Hockey
League, ,
The Flyers doubled the Trojans 4-2 in one
game.
On Wednesday, June 12, the Leafs edged
the Titans 4-3.
The Titans opened the scoring at the 9:35
mark of. the first frame, but the Leafs came
right hack and tied it up at the 6:35 mark.
