Blyth Festival applauded by Susan Fish
In Mid -August of last year, area con-
sultants for the Ministry of Citizenship and
Culture held a meeting regarding the
feasibility of an "Arts Training Seminar"
staged within their respective areas.
Following this initial meeting the four Coun-
ty Arts Committee was formed for the pur-
pose of planning, organizing, and implemen-
ting such a seminar.
The committee is composed of represen-
tatives from the Blyth Festival, Blyth, the
Huron Country Playhouse, Grand Bend, the
Stowntown Artsgroup, St. Marys, and the
Clinton Recreation Department, Clinton.
The committee recently hired Karen Scott
Booth, of Perth County, as Co-ordinator. She
is a fine arts graduate and as a professional
artist in this region, she says she realizes
the need for such a seminar as well as a net-
working system for arts organizations and
ar•tictc Cho onrnac }n the nrninrt with
great deal of related experience and com-
mitment.
"The seminar will offer arts organizations
from Huron, Bruce, Perth and Grey coun-
ties a wonderful opportunity to meet,
share and address concerns relevant to ad-
ministering an arts organization," the.
Honorable Susan Fish, Minister of Citizen-
ship and Culture, said recently.
"I applaud thellyth Festival in taking the
lead to organize such a worthwhile
seminar," she added. "The result, I am
sure, will be an active arts network working
to help each other improve its administra-
tion."
The Ministry of Citizenship and Culture
has awarded to the Blyth Festival, as spon-
sor organization, and the 4 County Arts
Committee a grant of $7,800 for the project,
"4 County Arts Training Seminar."

The waters of rivers, streams and creeks belong to everyone. Im-
proper use of the watercourses which carry these waters may result
in the following?
-irrigation and drainage problems for neighbours
-destruction of aquatic and wildlife habitat
-reduced recreational opportunities
-erosion and flooding problems
Whenever permanently flowing watercourses are to be altered in
any way including damming, diverting, and channelization, Fede'aI
and Provincial laws require that the approval of the Ministry of
Natural Resources be obtained.
As a first step in planning any work on a watercourse, contact us.
Our staff will be glad to discuss possible design and layout alter-
natives which will minimize future problems for you, your neighbour
and public in general.
