The Lions pressed the opposition throughout the contest, but Goderich Belles d9uble Seaforth $-4 The Goderich Bl1es doubled Seaforth 8-4, in a ringette game, played February 10, in Goderich. Allison Graham led the scoring for the local side, with three goals and one assist. Stacey Rean scored two goals, Angie Chisholm scored one and assisted on four, Lisa Kisch had one goal and two assists and Deb O'Brien scored one and assisted on one. Deb Habel and Vicky Vanderburgh helped out with,one assist each. Sheila Donnelly tended the Goderich net. TWEENS The Goderich Tweens suffered a 9-2 defeat, at the hands of the Mitchell Tween ringette squad, in a home game, played February 10. After going ahead 1-0 on,Trisha Rumig's goal, assisted by Jennifer Durnin; Goderich - was outscored 6-2 in the first period and 3-0 in the second and final frame. ngi Harrison scored the other Goderich marker, unassisted, at 6:23 of the first period. RINGETTE HOUSE LEAGUE On Monday, February 4, the Green Machine defeated the Black Stars 7 - 4. In the first period, Leslie -Brereton putthe Green Machine on the score board with an unassisted goal at 2:30 then Alesha Glousher got her first of two goals at 5; 3 from Meredith Rompf, her second came at 7:10, from Cathy Jo Moore. When at the eight minute mark, Black Stairs Julie Campbell put ' the ring past Heather MacDonald assisted by Donna Waterfield. In the second period the Green Machine put four goals past the Black Stars' goaltender. The first came at 4:17 from Stacey Clarence from Leslie Brereton then at 10:40 Leslie Brereton from . Alesha Glousher at 14:11 Jennifer Hamilton from Heather Moss then at 17:11 Alesha Glotisher got her -third -goal of thenightunassisted... . The Black Stars had three goals in the se- cond period the first at 6:37 from Tara Haylow unassisted then at 18:30 Tara ped in her second one assisted by Jodie Pearson. Then at 19x0 Julie Campbell got Juveniles win ami Playing what coach Doug Cruickshank called "probably our best' game of the year," the Goderich Signal -Star Juveniles beat St. Marys 5-2, m a Shamrock League hockey game, played February 10. It was a big win for the team, as the second -place St. Marys team have seldom been beaten ore the large ice surface of their home rink, said Cruickshank. Goderich ran- up a four -goal lead, before allowing a goal, to end the second perod up 4-1. The teams traded goals in the third frame, to settle the score at 5-2. Brent Williamson had a pair of goals, plus one assist, for Goderich. Darren Doak also fired two goals, and singles were net- ted by Tim Jaynes and John Graham, with Jaynes adding a pair of assists to his total. Matt Wilkinson drew three assists, while Ray Vanstone and Jeff Le3eau drew one - each. Cruickshank called the Stars' perfor- mance, "a good team effort". • The Goderich ` Signal -Star - Juveniles finished the regular season on a high note with an exhibition win over the' previously undefeated Stratford Juveniles, 5-2. The game was relatively tame as only 30 minutes of penalties were handed out dur- ing the game. Darren Doak Was the leading scorer for the Juveniles with one goal and two assists. Other markers went to Matt Wilkinson, John Graham, Chris Sideris and Brent Williamson. The Stratford scorers included Ken Thornton and Craig Schlemmer. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of the first period, and two goals in the second gave Goderich the lead. Stratford tried to rally in the third but the Goderich team scored twice and went on to hand the Strat- ford team their first loss of the season. The Goderich Juveniles will play against Belmont here Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Atom B's win three The Goderich Atom B team won three games in recent Huron -Perth Houseleague action. On February 6, the team travelled to Zurich, where they edged the home team 4- 3. Trevor Bazinett, with two goals and an assist led the Goderich attack, 'while David •Byre scored -a goal._and-three -assists and - Scott Creamer scored one goal. Goderch won another close one, beating Clinton 3-2, February 8, at home. Goderich came back fi unl a two -goal deficit midway through the second frame, scoring three unanswered goals to secure the win. David Boyce, with a pair and Andrew Scott sewed for Goderich, while Scott Creamer, Drew MacAuley, Jeff Phelan and Scott Mathiegon drew assists. Goderich came from behind again on February 10, in Zurich, to end up on top of a 7-3 blowout. After Zurich put two goals behind Goderich netminder Jamie Redmond, the _..l.ocal.squad_ _puxnped..ln., five_ straight goals,___ gave up one more and then aided two in- surance markers. Ryan Farrish scored a hat trick and add- ed an acci,ct fnr the Goderich side. David Boyce and James McDade each scored twice, with McDade also assisting on a goal. First place up for grabs. in Recreational League With one week remaining in the Goderich Recreational Hockey League regular season, first place is still up for grabs. Sunset Golf needs to win both final games to clinch first as Murphys has two games in hand. Recent action saw last place Ultramar come back from 8-3 deficit, to the O'Briens 8-8. Rick McLean with two goals, Ian McAdam, one goal, two assists and Jeff Denointne, Matt Pearson, Ron Kirkconnell and Ron Brown scored for Ultramar. Rob Standon paced O'Briens with five goals and one assist. Other scorers for O'Briens were Dennis Lassaline, Pete Kakkar and Don E'thelson. - The C1ere-Vu Rockets upset the Bedford Flyers, 8-4. Greg Burns and John Van Loo led the Rockets with two goals and one assist and Don Shropshal, Neff Dale and Brent Dow each added three points. Mark Frayne, two goals, one assist and Brian Moody two goals, two assists counted for Bedford. An eight -point night by' Phil Arthur (six goals, two assists) helped Sunset outshoot Hodges 10-8, Kevin Merriam and Jim Far- rish each added a goal and three assists. On Saturday, February 9, the younger girls in the Petite Houseleague travelled by bus to Exeter to play their youngest players. It was the first game the Exeter girls have played. With most of the play in the Exeter end of the ice, Goderich defeated the Exeter team 11 - 0. Alesha Glousher led the Goderich at- tack with 3 goals and one assist. Sherrie Suplat had two goals and one assist. Jodie Pearson and Heather Moss had two goats each. Amy Baer and Karen Harrison came up with some real good play and each scored their first goal. The Goderich girls had a real good oppor- tunity to practice their passing and it paid off for Leslie Brereton, as she got four assists. The other assists went to Jackie Ciiawford, Sherry Hogan and Jackie Vanstone. Goderich'sgoaltender did not have much work, but came up with good saves when called upon, to earn her the first shutout of her ltending career. ended up on the short end of a 2-1 overtime decision.
