the starving people in African countries.
The cars, packed with more than IMO bags
of corn each, were loaded by Mike
Ducharme, Terry Baker, Dave Brody and
Jim Finley. Baggerswere Jerome and Ger-

committee in Goderich Twp.
The town of Goderich will send a new
member to the landfill site committee
meeting next week in Goderich Township.
While the chairman of the town's works
committee has traditionally sat on the
landfill .site committee, council endorsed a
motion calling for administrative
committee chairman, Bill Clifford to sit on
the committee as the town's voting
member. Mayor Eileen Palmer was
named as an alternate.
Reeve Harry Worsell took exception to
the change, discounting Palmer's
suggestion that the 'complicated nature of
the work of the committee required an
experienced hand. "This is a complicated
period for the•comrnittee with capping the
present site and opening a new one," she
explained. "We need experience and the
administrative committee chairman has
been attending meetings on his own."
Claiming the appointment didn't matter ,
to him personally, Clifford said the
committee will be dealing with finance and
contractual matters, work that seemed'to
fall in line with his administrative role.
The landfill site committee will meet at
the Goderich Township council chambers
in Holmesville Tuesday; February 19 at 4
p. m.
The committee has been ordered to close
the present landfill site because of
leachate problems. Land is being made
available near the present landfill site.

seeds, pian flier garden crops and change the
look of the front yard. This being Goderich
Township's sesquicentennial year, it would
be expected that the residents would be
taking special interest in the appearance of
their properties.
Tb acknowledge and encourage this extra
/effort in the area of property beautification
the 1-5-0 committee has produced the 1-5-0
Apple Award. It is a goal to encourage 150
owners to participate and be presented with
this ayard of honor as recognition of the
appearance of their properties.
The committee encourages residents to
participate. In planning for yard or gate
changes people might consider a 1-5-0 theme
e.g. use pioneer implements, create a
special flower bed or use bygone articles for
a mailbox support. This may be the year
that restoration is done to the exterior of the
house for a rejuvenated look. Landscaping
may be involved, using our local plants,
shrubs, trees or rock. Some farm residents
