Romans3:23 tells us, "For all have sinned
and come short of the Glory of God.,
The . Bible -.says we are all sinners. 01
course, sin is not a popular word in today's
language. But to face lap to the word sin, .is to
face upto ourselves, and the truth is always
painful..
Someone' ha id, "There are very few
atheists lathe world. They just don't want to
believe in'God, for to do so, is to be responsi-
ble to, Him. And they just don't want to be
responsible to Him. .
Sin is disobedience to God. It's coming,
short of the Glory of God, of HIs praises and
approval.
Matthew Henry, a Bible commentator
says,
C''enung short, as an archer comes short
of a mark.
"Coming short, as runners come short of
the prize,
"Not only to not win - but to be great
Iosers".
Man's sin may differ in its extent and
nature, but the Bible. says, we have all sinn-
ed. By one man, Adam, we have inherited

our sinful nature. Man is not basically good.
Because of his sinful nature, he's basically
evil
From the time we are born, we have need-
ed help, someone or something to lean upon.

alcoholic ,ts a major problem in our soeiety
today, 1 would pray .they would come out,
recognize their need and obtain help.
Alcoholics Anonymous tells us a person
must recognize he is an alcoholic. before he
can be helped.
In the same way, we must recognize our
weakness, that we are sinners, and that we
need help. Everyone of as needs help. •
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12:10,
"Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in
reproaches, in neceseities,4n persecutions,
in distresses for Christ's sake,- for when I am
Weak than I., amstrong"..
Jesus said in Matthew 5:3, "Blessed are
the poor in spirit;- for theirs is the Kingdom
of God".
Blessed (Happy) are those that realize
they are poor spiritually, • that they have
need of God. Paul saw his difficulties in
reality. He saw hie weaknesses, and through
therm, his need of Jesus Christ. Oftentimes it •
is when we.,are facing difficulties, that we
,then realize our need of God.
• Sin has crippled us, but God has sent His
only begotten Son into this world to die for
our sins. (John 3:16). ,
1 John 1: 8, -9 says: "If we say that we
have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the
trial is not in us. if we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
If we confess that we are sinners, He will
forgive us of our past sins, and from, there,
give us strength and power to overcome our
present sins.
If you have bitterness in your heart, if you
are cheating on your spouse, cheating on
your income tax, stealing from the com-
pany, and so on: that's our sinful nature, our
weakness. Could I also say sickness - and we
desperately need help.
We know very well, there is nothing in this
world that can cure the, evll nature of our
hearts. It takes more than saying I arta
sorry. More than giving promises that fail.
It takes more than education, or some •
plan of rehabilitation - we need Christ.
-In --my sin,...in..My--weakness..,-I--saw. my
need. I need Jesus Christ. Yes, I am leaning
on Him. He is my crutch. What is your ant-
. .ch?
