Residents enjoyed lots of visitors and entertainment throughout this festive season thanks to the churches- - of Goderich, visits, Special Christmas services andgifts. Members from the Girl Guides, Legion, Beavers, Municipal -Nursery, GDCI, and St. Mary's School also paid visits to Maitland Manor. Thanks to all who helped make the Christmas season festive at the Manor. Another' Christmas event at the Manor was Santa's visit. St. Nick gave a stuffed • stocking to each • resident, thanks to . the Kinettes, St: 'Peter's and St: Joseph's Catholic Schools, Knox Presbyterian, St. George's Anglican, Victoria and North Street. United and the Trinity Christian Reformed Churches. Throughout December Maitland Manor was alive with Christmas decorations and carols. The resident's doors were decorated for the occasion by families and loved ones. The festive winners were Marg Humphrey, Dolly Bruce, Verda Denomme, 'Orval Powell and Frank Wjade and Margaret MacDonald and Ina Collins. Maitland Manor also formed its` first choir thanks to Jean and Helen Elliott which performed at the family Christmas -dinner and at Maitland Manor's Christmas Party. To get. a special taste of Christmas, residents toured Goderich to see the town's decorative Christmas lights and the nice displays at the Courthouse. Thanks to all'the volunteers who helped with the driving. ' New Years was celebrated at the Manor with punch, hats and noisemakers. The residents all sang Auld Lang Syne to bring in the New Year and kiss 1984 goodbye. There are some great upcoming activities for Maitland Manor residents in 1985. Men will be doing some woodworking with help from the GDCI ,shop students. Residents also have the opportunity to have Pen Pals with Grades 4 and 5 pupils from Fort Nelson, British Columbia: Dr. Harold Taylor of Goderich is a new resident at the Manor. Welcome aboard.
