The GDCI senior Vikings, who were un-
defeated in the regular season, find than -
selves down one game in the best of three
Huron Perth Conference girls° basketball
championship finals following their 29-24
loss to Exeter last Thursday.

three, if necessary, will be Thursday here.
The Vikings led the game in Exeter 22-21
with less than two minutes .remaining but
were unable to hold -on for the victory.
Kim Fritzley, who had to sit out most of
the fourth quarter after being shaken up,
scored seven points for Goderich. Mary
O'Neill had six, Allison Graham got four,
Anne Allan three and Cathy Gallow and
Chris Stapleton two points each. Stapleton
got into early foul trouble and sat out the
second and third quarters.
The Vikings reached the finals by blowing
out Stratford Central 69-27 in sudden -death
semi-final play here last Tuesday.
In that game, Kim Fritzley hit for 23
points. Chris Stapleton and Mary O'Neill
had 11 apiece while .Cathy Gallow and
Allison Graham goteight points each. Mary
Murphy had four and Mary Alexander and
Anne Allan each contributed two pointe.
Lori Sippel had 16points for Stratford.

Pats went 'on to win the champlonahip,
defeating Ingersoll 10440 in the semi-final
and beating Tillsonburg 81-30 in the final.
The Vikings played well aga.nst the St.
Pats team who are a kind of legend in their
own time in girls` basketball circles in
Ontario. St. Pats left their starters in most
of the game and used a pressagainst the
Vikings who actually outscored the Sarnia
team 15-9 in the last quarter.
The Vikings reached the consolation final
by edging Toronto Cardinal Newman 40-39
in semi-final play on a last -second basket
from the baseline by Kim Fritzley who was
chosen to the tournament all-star team.
Fritzley had 14, Graham 10, Alexander six,
Stapleton six and Allan four for the Vikings.
In the consolation final, the Vikings
defeated Windsor Brennan 50-40 in an ex-
cellent
xcellent team effort. Fritzley and Stapleton
had 12 points each, Alexander added 10,
O'Neill had eight,, Graham six and Allan
two.
