Extending Water Mains
The waterworks system is being ex-
tended to the back streets of town and
are being rapidly laid down by day
labor under the supervision of Street
Commissioner: W. J. Bissett. The
mains are to be extended one block
south on Main street, two blocks east
and west respectively on Huron street
from North street to Andrew, from
Andrew to John, from John to. Albert,
from Albert to James; two blocks west
on Sanders street, one block east on'
'Thames Road and two blocks west on
the Lake Road. About thirty con-
nections for residences have been ay -
plied for. This will give the town in-
creased fire protection and will in -
Icrease the revenue for waterworks to -
the neighborhood of one thousand
dollars a year.
Ewing -Amos --The home_ of Dr. T,
A:, and Mrs. Amos, Burford, Ont., was
the scene of a pretty September wed-
ding on Wednesday last, when their
only daughter, Lillian Isabel, was unit-
ed in marriage to Mr. George Edwin
Ewing, Taber, Alta., formerly: of Rich
mond Que. The ceremony was con
ducted by Rev. N. 1V I. Martin, B A., of
London in the presence of about thirty
guests, The young bride Who was
given away by her father, entered the
room to the strains of the wedding
march played by her cousin Miss Mary
Amos of McGillivray and wore a gown.

Many Improvements in
Town
One* its Disking up and going ahead.
New residences are being erected and.
others are being greatly improved by
additions and remodelling, The citi-
zens have reason to be proud of our
town possessing as it does so many fine
hornets with spacious lawns and gar-
dens. We are situated in the finest
in the
and richest agriculturaldiatric.
provinen, with excellent roads in all
directions. The products of the farm
and orchard are ours in great quantity
Our fruits and yegetables are of the
finest gn+ality and richest flavor, We
are literally living in luxury, but little
do we realize it. Coupled with this.
are the comfortable homes we enjoy,
the improvemente to which we started
out to enumerate but drifted onto the
great and glorious advantage we po-
sese that make these improvements
possiible. Follawiing are a few of the
many improvements in building oper-
ations, Mr, D, Mack is building a
handsome red pressed brick residence
on Main street opposite the Main street
church. Messrs. Snell and Marchand
have nearly completed three fine
houses on the site of the old Mansion
House property. Mr. Wm Howey is
preparing for the erection of a new
house on Andrew street .north of the
English church rectory. Mr. Chas.
Hooper has remodelled and veneered
the old Dry Amos property on Andrew
street.:and is erecting a large verandah
Mr. J, N. Howard has rebuilt a fine
home on Sanders street, Mr. Frank
Gill has . raised his cottage on Huron
street to a:two-storey and has veneered
it. Mr, Chas, Sanders also of Huron
street has veneered his cottage and
erected a new kitchen. The Misses
Tom have dbnnpletely overhauled their
residence and added a fine verandah.
Mrs. IL Cameron, of Exeter North
has raised her dwelling and veneered
it. Messrs. 3. G. Stanbury, R. G. Sel-
don, Frank Wood, Jas. Gould, Geo.
Crawley raw y and- John Snell have added
large handsome verandahs to their
homes. • Mr, L. Day has erected a new
verandah put in a cement walk and is
having his residence painted. Mr.
John Ford is adding a large verandah
around -three sides of
his residence.
Mr. Ric
rd Gidl ey is haying his house
on Wil il
• street remodelled and
painted l N Geo, Windsor is having
the Jiueki
ani property at the park
remodelle and painted. Mr. James
Jewell is preparing to erect a new ver-
andah. Mr, John Keys of Orediton
who purchased the Passmore property
ton Wiliam street is arranging for a
number of improvements. - The Gibb
Evaporator Co have erected two new
kilns on their site and Mr. S. West is
adding a kitchen. There are others
making more or less improvements.
We have said nothing of the large
amount of painting that has been done.
Nearly ary'other place in town has.
been doing painting in a more or less
degree and thus our town possesses
some of the finest homes that will com-
pare with the better class residences.
of the city. These improvements
show the citizens to be taking a great
deal of pride in their homes and by so
doing are adding greatly to the, beauty
of Exeter. Let the good work con-
tinue.
A West Huron Trustees'
Association
