Auton.Tea at Huronview
Sunday morning worship was held in the
chapel with Reverend Pick in charge. We
wish to thank the ladies who so kindly
decorated the pulpit, in keeping with the
theme of Thanksgiving Day. It brought to
mind much for which we thank God. Elsie
Henderson sang an appropriate solo in fine
voice, accompanied by Mar ret McQueen.
Exercises to music have become quite
popular, and residents are enjoying this
relaxing period. Some of the ladles are tak-
ing a great interest in the ceramic classes,
and here they learn how to clean the pieces
and paint the frished products.
Special Care residents met in the
auditorium Tuesday afternoon, for a happy
social hour. Here they listened to music and
enjoyed a cup of coffee.
Wednesday afternoon in the activity
room, was the setting for the Autumn Tea.
Our administrator, Mr. Wayne Lester
welcomed the guests, and thanked everyone
who had a part in organizing this event. The
room was decorated in all the fall colors,
and each table had a centerpiece of autumn

Thursday afternoon, with Mrs. M. Prouty in
charge, and who also led in the singing of the
hymns. A scripture reading was taken by
Milford Prouty who then conducted a Bible
quiz on Moses. Bible study period was taken
by Mrs. Prouty. A flannelgraph was used to
illustrate the story. The meeting closed with
a hymn and prayer.

Spinners
have busy
summer
This summer was a busy one for the
Huron Tract Spinners and Weavers Guild.
In June a meeting was held in Ripley on
spinning.
Evelyn Hardy and Laura Bean conducted
the July meeting, with Laura demonstrating
herr woven jacket and Evelyn .showing
several jackets, a poncho, aprons and what
to do with "thrums", odds and ends of wool.
A "dye -in" was held in August at the home
of Toni Vos, who is an experienced spinner
and weaver. Several of the Guild members
also held their second annual summer show
at Benmiller, which was a success.
At the September meeting, Pat Lee
demonstrated leaf printing and a show and
tell was also held. A two day workshop was
held on September 17 and 24 on the study of
stripes in warp and weft, at the home of
Evelyn Hunter in London. Mrs. Hunter
designs clothing out of handwoven material,
eg. sweaters, skirts, jackets, etc. in her
home.
In October, Gerry Zurbrigg told members
of her week at Belwood where she took a
beginner's course in weaving. The upcom-
ing fifth annual sale and exhibition at Ben -
miller November 5 and 6 was also discussed.

Legion Auxiliary holds
successful rummage sale
BY MYRTLE McNAIR
Comrade President Sharon Scruton
chaired the October general meeting of the
Ladies' Legion Auxiliary to Branch 109 with
46 members present.
Two applications for membership were
accepted. They are Anne Doherty of
Goderich and Susan Saunders of R.R.6
Goderich.
Ten year membership pins were
presented to "Comrades Bessie Bisset,
Esther Blackwell, Lorraine Jones, Joyce
Marshall and Helen Hutchings. Not present
to receive their pins were Comrades Mary
Rivett, Anne McCartney, Una Watson and
Violet Bridle.
The rummage sale held October 15, con-
vened by Comrade Iris Sampson, was a
great success again this year. Thanks to all
who participated and supported it in any
way.
The annual Christmas Cake draw will be
made at the Snowflake Bazaar November 3.
Thanks to Comrade Faye Sheardown who is
making and donating the Christmas cake.
Tickets are available from Auxiliary
members.
A carload of Goderich Ladies' Auxiliary
members plan to drive to Blyth October 20
to participate in the celebration of the 35th
anniversary of the Ladies' Legion Auxiliary
to Branch 420 Blyth.
A suggestion by the executive and general
membership of 1982, to make a donation to
the Intensive Care Unit of Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital in 1983, was
fulfilled. A dessert card party and the sale of
afghan tickets realized $250. This is to be
donated to the Intensive Care Unit.
Six executive members recently attended
a zone auxiliary meeting in Kincardine.
Zone Commander Mary Hawn was in the
chair. Third vice-president of Ontario Pro-
vincial Command, Evelyn Carroll, also
presided at the head table. The secretary of
Clinton Auxiliary recorded the minutes.
Comrades Carroll and Hawn responded to
questions from the floor.
This meeting was a first for the Zone and
was very informative for those attending.
The new Auxiliary by-law books, Ritual
and Procedures, have arrived and are
available to Auxiliary members at the cost
of one dollar.
Again this year, the Auxiliary members
were asked to give their time to the Poppy
Canvass. This is part of the membership
pledge so please offer a small part of your
time. A public canvass will take place
November 4 and 5.
On Sunday, November 6, the Branch and
Auxiliary will parade to St. Peter's Church.
The door-to-door Poppy Blitz will follow the
church parade.
The mystery prize was won by Helen
Russell. The attendance prize had no winner
and will be worth $12 next month.
