ingesample of someone who knows nothing
about something expressing his weaned
"wisdom".
Consider: Charles Taze Russel, onpage 24.
of his fifth book (1891) wrote: "Mark the
hope which.he points out as the very essence
of the Gospel, saying: "God commendeth
his love toward us, in that while we were yet
sinners Christ DIED FOR US; much more
then, being justified BY HIS BLOOD, we
shall be saved from wrath through him."
(Rom. 5:8,9) Here is a specific declaration
that. the race was under divine wrath; that

/the saving power was the BLOOD OF
CHRIST,.."
Consider also: Joseph F. Rutherford, in
his book THE HARP OF GOD (1921) wrote:
"In the type, the slaying of the bullock, and
the carrying of its blood into the Holy as a
typical sin -offering foreshadowed the fact
that the redemption of man's sins could be
accomplished only through the blood of a
perfect sacrifice. And for this reason, says
the Apostle Paul, "Without the shedding of
blood there is no remission." (page 140)
Furthermore: the book, AID TO BIBLE
UNDERSTANDING, published by
Jehovah's Witnesses in 1971 states, on page
160: "Forgiveness is dependent on the
POURING OUT OF BLOOD (Heb.
and Christians who are walking in the light
are assured that the blood of Jesus (God's
Son) cleanses us from all sin." 1 John 1:7;
Heb. 9:13,14; Rev. 1: 5."
From 1890 till now, the religion °Mr.
Barney follows' and advocates has held that
"without the shedding of blood, no remission
for sin is available." Mid since Mr. Minaker
quotes so profusely from the Bible, may I
recommend that he read very carefully,
Revelation, chapter 21, verse 8 and Romans
9:1.
Sincerely,
C.F. Barney.
"Imperial Goderich" renamed
BY SKIP GILLHAM
Earlierr this year the World Ship Society
publication "Marine News" carried a
belated report on the renaming of the for-
mer tanker called Imperial Goderich. This
vessel- is still around although I do not
believe that;she ever visited her namesake
port.
The ship was built for Imperial Oil by
Marine Industjies Ltd. She was launched at
Sorel, Quebec, in 1938 as the Petrolite and
had only limited service on the Great Lakes.
During World War II, Petrolite served on
the east coast where the 239 foot, 9 inch 73.08
metres) tanker: refueled convoys and
supplied storage depots.
After the war, Petrolite headed south to
Peru and operated in the South American
coastal trade where Imperial Oil had con-
siderable interests.
In 1947, the owners renamed all the
members of their fleet. The first name of all
of the ships now became "Imperial" while
the second name honored one of a variety of
Canadian cities and towns. Thus Imperial
Goderich was chosen as the name for the old
Petrolite.
Imperial Goderich returned to the
Canadian east coast run in 1949 and
operated mostly out of Halifax to company
installations in the Maritime region. I do not

In 1955, Imperial Goderich was sold to
Unitanker Holdings Ltd. of Vancouver and
she went to the west coast via the Panama
Canal. The ship was renamed Unitanker
until 1956 when she became Pacific Wind.
Later owners included Pacific Bulk
Carriers of Vancouver, Fineria Golden de
Panama Inc. and the Ishmian Tanker Corp.
Under the last two firms, she flew the
Keel could be
from Abercorn
Two weeks ago part of a boat, the keel,
was washed up on St. Christopher's Beach
and it is believed to be part of an old boat
called the Abercorn.
According to Ron Pennington, the
Abercorn, an old steam vessel built in
Marine City, Michigan, was striped
sometime in the early 1900's and used as a
barge to carry gravel and cement to the
breakwall that was being constructed.
It is believed that when they were finished
with the vessel, it was taken to shallow
wagers and set on fire.
few years ago a bow and some ribbing
from a ship were washed ashore at ap-
proximately the same spot, and these are
thought to be from the Abercorn as well.

Panamanian flag.
It is noted that on November 24, 1963, the
ship was in collision on the west coast with
the fishing vessel Unimak. An investigation
found both ships at fault.
In 1965, her name became Eagle while the
most recent change saw her named June in
1981.
I understand this ship now serves on the
Caribbean and I would have to assume, that,
at age 45, her days of continued service are
limited.
