The GDCI senior Vikings remain un-
defeated in Huron -Perth Conference girls'
basketball following two more victories last
week. Tuesday, in Exeter, the Vikings.
defeated South Huron 40-32. Playing at home
Thursday, coach Phil Bugler's squad
emerged 61-38 winners over Seaforth. The
victories give the Vikings a 4-0 record in
league games. They are 16-4 overall.
Both games were closer than the final
scores indicate. The Vikings trailed Exeter
after three quarters, but then outscored the
South Huron girls 14-2 in the last quarter to
win by eight. Against Seaforth, the Vikings
led by nine, 31-22, at halftime, and then went
on to stretch their margin of victory by 23
points.
Mary O'Neill and Kim Fritzley led the
Vikings against Exeter with 16 and 10 points
respectively. Anne Allan added eight and
Cathy Gallow had six. Faye Gaiser topped
South Huron with 14.
Thursday, it was Fritzley with 20 points,
and O'Neill with 19. Cathy Gallow had eight,
and Allison Graham and Mary Beth
Alexander had four apiece.
Faye Corochan had 14 and Denise Morey
had 12 to lead Seaforth.
The Vikings play today (Wednesday) in
Mitchell and here tomorrow against
Stratford Central. Saturday they will be
playing in the Owen Sound Westhill
Invitational Tournament where they will
meet OSCVI of Owen Sound in their first
game.
Junior team wins four games
and winning n-13. Coach Kelly saw heads up
play by Todd Graham, Matt Wilkinson and
Todd Wilson.
The senior Vikings, coached by Bill
Worsen, ran into stiff competition from the
Perth teams and came up winless despite a
spirited effort. They lost to Norwell 15-9 and
15-7, to Listowel 15-11 and 15-10 and to league
leading Mitchell, 15-5 and 15-9.
The GDCI boy's volleyball teams took
part in a four team tournament Thursday in
Listowel.
Coach Tom Kelly's junior team won four
of their six games. They defeated Norwell
15-11 and 15-8 before losing to Listowel, but
they then came back to beat Listowel 15-3.
