The Algosoo arrived light
for salt from Sault Ste. Marie
August 25 and cleared
harbor the next day for
Montreal.
The Algobay arrived light
for salt from Serpent Harbor
August 27 and cleared
harbor the next day for
Montreal.
The Algorail arrived light
for salt from Windsor August
29.
The Beechglen arrived
light for wheat from Midland
August 24 and cleared
harbor the next day for
Midland and Port
MacNickle.
The Ontadoc arrived light
for grain from Thunder Bay
August 26 and cleared
harbor the same day with a
part load for Collingwood.
Biggest
parade
The biggest Warriors' Day
parade ever presented at the
Western Fair will see some
80 units from across Ontario
and the state of Michigan
assemble in a stirring
demonstration of pride and
pageantry on Saturday,
September 10.
The parade will form at
Catholic Central High School
grounds and move off along
Dundas Street, Rectory
Street and King Street, enter
the fairgrounds through the
King Street gate and proceed
directly to the grandstand,
arriving about 12:35 p.m. In
all, 11 bands; 25 color
guards, 18 color parties and
26 marching units involving
about 1,600 marchers will
participate. Trophies will be
awarded to the units judged
best in various categories.
In honor of this being the
centennial year of the Royal
Canadian Regiment, the 1
RCR, London, will provide a
guard of honor featuring a
color party, band and color
guards. Following the
parade, some 250 members
of the Royal Canadian Regi-
ment will perform a
ceremonial march -past
before reviewing officer
T.F.G. Lawson of London,
colonel of the Royal Cana-
dian Regiment.
Colonel Lawson's military
service included Cadets at
Upper Canada College, four
years with the COTC from
1932 to 1936 and two years
with the Canadian Fusiliers
prior to mobilization.
Subsequent to mobilization
in January, 1942 with the
Canadian Fusiliers, (City of
London Regiment), he was
attached to The Royal Cana-
dian Regiment in the United
Kingdom until the fall of
1942. He served with the
Canadian ' Fusiliers until
1945, commanded a com-
pany and was operations of-
ficer in the Aleutians in 1943,
44. In February, 1945 he
transferred to the Lincoln
and Welland Regiment and
sa» service as a company
commander in Holand and
Germany through 13 Battles.
In 1946, he returned to the
Canadian Fusiliers as Com-
manding Officer and served
in this capacity until his
retirement in 1948. From
1 to 1975, he was Hon LCo1
of 4 RCR.
