The program consists of four courses,
and is offered on a part-time basis in
the distance education mode. The
courses are:
1. Trends in Nursing and Health Care
Delivery (20 hrs.)
2. Human Anatomy and Physiology
(50 hrs.)
3. Current Nursing Theory (80 hrs.)
4. Clinical Nursing (150 hrs.)
The distance education mode, used for
the theory component, is characterized
by the following:
a) detailed study guides to facilitate
independent learning by the student
b) learning resource center in the com-
munity where the course is offered -
including book, and A-V resources
c) weekly tutorial meetings of the stu-
dent group in a particular communi-
ty, with teacher contact either in
person, or by teleconference.
Clinical nursing offers 150 hours of
supervised clinical practice in a medi-
cal -surgical active care setting.
It is integrated with the Current Nursing
Theory course.
Applicants must have a current College
of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of
Competence, or a letter of eligibility
from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
To be admitted, applicants must com-
plete an application form and question-
naire, participate in a personal inter-
view and meet health requirements.
Programs will be offered in the follow-
ing locations in the 1983-84 academic
year.

CARDIOPULMONARY
RESUSCITATION (C.P.R.)
Basic Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation (C.P.R.) N
This is the Ontario Heart Foundation
course in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
Successful students will receive a
certificate from the Ontario Heart Foun-
dation.
Applicants are required to complete a
brief medical questionnaire indicating
medical condition. Applicants who do
not meet the medical conditions required
for this course will not be admitted.
Note: Persons wishing to enroll in the
Basic C.P.A.\ course should apply "in
person" in order that they may fill out a

questionnaire and pick up the required
texts.

tion course.

Heart Saver N
This Ontario Heart Foundation Course is
designed to impart information to the
general public about a healthy life style,
heart problems, prevention of unneces-
sary deaths from heart attacks, signals
and actions for survival, the choking
victim and the basic motor skills of resu-
scitation.

HEALTH CARE AIDE
PROGRAM C
The goal of the Program is to prepare a
person to function under the supervi-
sion of the Registered Nursing staff and
the direction of the Physician in a
long-term care facility. Students learn
to assist residents of varying ages to
meet their basic emotional, social and
physical needs.
Admission Requirements:
- Academic Upgrading Level III Certifi-
cate or equivalent, or grade ten from
an Ontario Secondary School or mature
student status.
- currently employed and employed for
a minimum of one year as an aide
dealing with resident care in a geriatric
setting or a long-term care institution,
such as a nursing home, home for the
aged, chronic and/or convalescent
home.
- submission of completed Conestoga
College health certificates, signed by a
doctor, indicating good health.
- the required immunization to work in a
health setting as specified by Cones-
toga College.
The Program consists of the following
four courses:
- Introduction To Long -Term Care
- Activation And Communication
- Activities Of Daily Living
- Specific Conditions In Long -Term
Illness
The student will receive 120 hours of
classroom instruction as well as 120
hours of clinical experience in the pro-
gram.
Lecture Series - Update On
Contemporary Issues For Health
Care Aides S
Prerequisite - Health Care Aide Certifi-
cate.
This lecture series is to provide gradu-
ates from an approved Health Care
Aide Program with an update on rele-
vant issues related to nursing care of
residents in long-term or chronic care
facilities. Specific topics include: the
role of the Health Care Aide on the
care team, communications, client con-
fusion and reality orientation, comfort
measures and skills related to activities
of daily living, and conditions in long-
term illness.

INDUSTRI:;;I ENGINEERING
PROGRAM - LEVEL I C
The Program aims to help fill the
continual need for qualified personnel to
perform specialized functions in the
fields of work measurement, methods
analysis, plant layout, material handling,
and cost estimating.
The courses in the Program provide the
student with many of the tools and
techniques which have proven effective
in the analysis, improvement and control
of work, The student also receives
grounding in the knowledge of manufac-
turing processes, industrial organiza-
tion. Upon successful completion of the
eight course Program, the student will
receive a Conestoga College Certifi-
cate.
Admission requirements:
- Mathematics Pretest,
- completion of Industrial Engineering -
Level I Questionnaire.
Applicants who do not meet the admis-
sion requirements, may schedule an
interview with the co-ordinator to dis-
cuss possible upgrading for program
admission.
Motion and Time Study is 60 hours in
duration, the other courses are 30 hours
in duration.
It is recommended that students take
Basic Blueprint Reading - Mechanical
and Manufacturing Processes to pre-
pare themselves for the other six
courses.

Basic Blueprint Reading -
Mechanical R
This course is an introduction to
blueprint reading. Students will be able
to apply the principles of orthographic
projection and read and interpret techni-
cal drawings.

Manufacturing Processes R
This course covers the processes used
in manufacturing industries involving
foundry methods, sheet metal forming,
protective coating and surface finishes,
forging, machining and welding meth-
ods, rubber products processing, and
wood, leather and plastics processing.

Motion And Time Study R
This course is a study of methods, time
study and wage payment with practical
