Knitting S
From beginner basics to advanced
knitting techniques. Students will work
sample stitches in class and novelty
projects from provided patterns on their
own time. Supplies will be purchased by
students as required.

Machine Knitting S
Prerequisite is access to an available
knitting machine. Upon completion of
this course a beginner or a non -knitter
will be able to create a variety of detailed
garments. Included are techniques fo-
cusing on details and finishings as well
as the basic instructions. Bring your
machine to the course.

Quilting S
A project -oriented course. Students
work on their own projects or in a group.
You will learn how to make quilts and
different types of stitching. Students
must be prepared to spend $5 on
supplies the first evening.

Basic Sewing S
A workshop course designed for the
person interested in clothing construc-
tion. The construction of blouses, and
skirts will be studied. The enrollment is
limited to 14 students. Candidates must
have access to a sewing machine which
can be carried to certain classes.

Sewing For Christmas S
A course for people interested in making
tree ornaments, wreaths, stockings,
etc.; emphasis on using patchwork and
quilting techniques rather than felt.
Unique gift ideas for men, women, and
children will be presented. Workshop

in -class sewing and pattern making.

Christmas Novelties S
This one evening mini -course will teach
you special Christmas decorating tech-
niques. Topics to be covered: Christmas
cookie figure piping, sugar sculpture
and Christmas flowers.

Sew For Snow S
A course covering almost everything you
want to know about sewing skiing and
winter wear - from selecting appropriate
materials to alterations, machine quilting
to down fillings. The teacher will also
touch on the making of ski/winter
accessories, sewing for children and the
care and repair of winter wear.

Rughooking S
A one night course which will teach you
how to latch hook a rug, pillow or wall
hanging. Please bring a latch tool and a
plain or stamped piece of canvass along
with rughooking yarn (precut or other-
wise).

Wardrobe Planning S
Learn the basic principles of colour, line
and accessorizing as applied to ward-
robe planning. Discover the effect of
different colours and designs on you as
an individual and discover ways of
planning, changing and co-ordinating
your wardrobe within your budget.

Sewing I
pressing techniques necessary to pro-
duce a strong, stable garment with a
firm, smooth look. A man's or woman's
blazer or coat will be constructed during
the course. Sewing machines may be
brought for certain sessions, but this is
optional.

Traditional Tailoring Techniques S
An in-depth course for the experienced
sewer. Traditional tailoring requires
careful hand -stitching, taping and con-
tinuous pressing to stabilize and build
shape into a garment.
Emphasis is placed on proper fit with
both a muslin shell and garment fitted on
the student. As well, students will learn
professional techniques for welt pock-
ets, bound buttonholes, sleeves and lin-
ings.
A man's or woman's blazer or coat will
be constructed during the course.

S Tailored Pants And Jeans
An introduction to sewing for the true
beginner. Basics of pattern and fabric
selection and preparation will be stud-
ied. A basic, fitted dress will be
constructed. Students must be prepared
to bring a sewing machine to some ses-
sions.

Sewing II S
For the student with some sewing
experience or who has completed
Sewing I. Fabric and pattern selection
and preparation will be studied. A basic
skirt and blouse will be constructed.

Sewing Synthetic Suede ' S
This demonstration will give you the
confidence to handle Ultrasuede or any
of the other luxury suede fabrics. Topics
include pattern selection, interfacing,
helpful notions, how to reduce sleeve -
cap ease and special techniques for
cutting, sewing, pressing and details
such as buttonholes. As well, you will
learn how' to reduce yardage require-
ment and,hence save money.

Sewing Silk And Silk -like Fabrics N
Silks and silkies are more difficult to
work with because they are soft, slippery
and ravel badly. However, with some
special tips, you'll soon be getting
professional results. Topics include
selection of pattern, fashion and shaping
fabrics, techniques for cutting, marking
and sewing, special seams and finishes,
pressing, hems, buttonholes, style and
trimming ideas and care of finished

This in-depth course for the experienced
sewer will emphasize traditional tailoring
techniques. Students will learn and use
the shaping materials, hand stitches and

make but the most difficult to fit. This
course, for the experienced sewer, will
teach you how to take correct mea-
surements, adjust the pattern and alter a
basic pants shell or basted jeans. Fly
front, pocket and waistband techniques
will also be covered.

Bartending Techniques A
People who work in the hotel, restaurant
and institution industry should attend as
well as those who want to learn
professional cocktail mixing for their
own entertainment.
Topics include supplies, set up, mixing
cocktails, and public relations. Upon
completion you will be able to shake,
build and stir all of the commonly asked
for cocktails. Fee includes a profession-
al bartending kit, approximately $15,
and sales tax.

Bread Making Workshop N
In three sessions, students will learn.
about flour, the working of yeast from
start to finish and the forming of loaves
and. rolls. In addition to basic bread,
there will be instruction on making a

This course is for practitioners in the
food services trade and experienced
homemakers. Subjects will include:
